Woolizes Dryer Balls Review and Giveaway!

I was recently received a box of Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls.  They happen to arrive on a BIG laundry day…you know when everything is dirty and mama can’t seem to find something to wear! That afternoon the washer has just finished when the doorbell rang {no joke…I think it was meant to be!!} I don’t even think the delivery truck had left my driveway when I tossed the Woolzies in the dryer! Since I have used dryer balls in the past I knew exactly what I was looking for.

  • I wanted a set {3 or more}
  • NO CHEMICALS! Did you know that many commercial dryer liquids and sheets contain chemicals that destroy the fire-retardant qualities of children’s and adult’s clothing?!
  • I wanted the dryer ball to be about the size of a tennis ball IMG_3837
  • I want dryer ball that is going to last
  • I wanted a dryer ball that is tightly woven wool…you know something that isn’t going to fall apart after a few trips in the dryer!

Woolzies passed with flying colors! Not only are they sturdy & the size I wanted…they came in a set of 6!!! {Woolzies also has three packs!}

My average drying cycle for a regular sized load of laundry is about 60-90 minutes {because of allergies my family has we use the “Allergen” setting. Since the Woolzies were here I decided to throw caution to the wind and put it on a 40 minute cycle **Fingers Crossed** I have to admit I was totally and complete expecting that I would have to restart the dryer when it was done…That was NOT the case! Not only were the clothes completely dry they were pretty much wrinkle free {score! unexpected bonus!}sidebar_top

  • Wool Dryer Balls will help speed up drying time!: HELLO! Reduced Electricity and Energy Costs…who would’t want that?
  • Wool Dryer Balls will replace fabric softener and disposable dryer sheets:  That means No chemicals!!! Having a family that has chronic skin disease {s} This is a HUGE must!
  • Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls will last through about 1,000 loads of laundry: MONEY SAVER!!!

Oh and Woolzies work great for dodge ball, juggling, and floor bowling 😉

Wool Dryer Balls are HUGE part my laundry routine!

Q: If I have an allergy to wool, can I still use WOOLZIES?

A: Yes! Absolutely! Since the wool is not directly touching your skin and does not shed, everyone can use WOOLZIES without any allergic reactions.

Q: Why are WOOLZIES better than rubber/plastic/tennis balls in the dryer?

A: Rubber and plastic balls are made from harsh chemicals including PVCs which are released onto your laundry by the hot dryer air. Not only are these types of dryer balls dangerous to your health, they are toxic to the environment as well. Additionally, the harsh tumbling action of rubber, plastic and tennis balls can damage your dryer’s sensitive electronic sensors. Finally, some of these types of balls may even melt slightly and cause fabric staining.

Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gel {Review}

Want something Extremely Colorful. Extremely Temporary. Extremely Fun?
How about all of that is in a fun Colored hair gel? Well I have awesome news for you! Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gel is water-based and totally temporary. Now that’s something kid-friendly fun? Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gel, is a brightly colored temporary hair gel perfect to show your school pride, support your favorite NFL team {Ahem SEAHAWKS}, add a little bit of funky to the mundane or just simply for fun!IMG_3809

IMG_3816When I was given the opportunity by the Eric {Zach’s Dad} to share Zach’s Wax with you I was stoked! I showed my kids the Zach’s Wax website and they pretty much couldn’t contain the squeals of excitement about what would be arriving soon! The afternoon our package arrived I’m sure our neighbors thought we opened a box with a million dollars…they were yelling and jumping around! It was pretty exciting!

We received four tubes of Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gel – Blue, Green {yeah baby…that’s Seahawks colors}, Purple and Pink! So, right there in our front yard I did the very first application!

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect…I am VERY pleased with the results. The gel is nice and thick and smells good! It was very easy to apply even to two squirming preschoolers!!

If you choose to apply with bare hand the color WILL come out of your skin after about two hand washings {I tested with the colors I have, I cannot say if this is the case with the other colors} With that being said…use the gloves that come with the gel 😉

It takes about five – ten minutes to air dry. Since it’s still summer I decided not to use the blow dryer 🙂

The website suggests using the white gel as a base for darker hair…I totally agree with that. We don’t have the white and all have medium to VERY dark brown hair and the colors were a little muted…that will be an easy fix with the white gel!

It washes out very easily. If your kids choose to leave it in for a few days like my kids it will eventually just fade out…I assume that it rubbed or flaked off when they changed or slept but I found ZERO color transfer on any clothing or pillowcases {the twins have white so it would have been easy to see}

We have really enjoyed Zach’s Wax and have a few more colors we want to get! The kids have been so excited to go out and about with their “awesome” hair! This past Sunday the boys both had blue faux hawks and little miss had a pink ponytail! Everyone they walked past asked about it…which they loved! I was asked by many moms where it was from! Once we get our white base I will be rockin some pink and purple streaks too!

The Extreme Color Gel comes in nine fun colors! Your kids are gonna love it!

Zach’s Wax comes in a tube, with a plastic glove and a  wand for easy application {just like a mascara brush}. The color washes out with only one shampoo.

There is something else pretty awesome about Zach’s Wax: it’s is a family owned business out of Ventura, California, and part of its design is philanthropic. {Learn more about this wonderful family} They call it Colors for Causes. They have associated each color with a charitable cause like They donate a percentage of their profits from each color to the organization or cause linked to it…
  • Pink: Breast Cancer
  • White: Children’s Autism
  • Yellow: Children’s Diabetes
  • Black: Life Impact International
  • Green: Children’s Hospitals
  • Blue: Granting Children’s Dreams
  • Purple: Children’s Hunger fund
  • Red: Special Olympics
  • Orange: Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer {Don’t forget that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. I know it is hard to think about but there are so many families who are watching their babies {no matter the age} fight for their lives. Please help support families who need it so badly}
  • Clear: Mozambique Hospital

header-zachs-waxlI defiantly think you should head over and pick some up for your family! Zach’s Wax is a fun way to show your personality!

I want to give a BIG Thank You to Eric and the whole Family for giving me this fun opportunity to share Zach’s Wax

A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels Review

If you saw my 2013-2014 Curriculum post then you saw that our art curriculum this year is Southern Hodgepodge‘s {Tricia Hodges & Lucia “Nana” Hames} “A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels

IMG_0129I love art more than you’d believe. My mom, aunt, sister and niece are all AMAZING artist! I still remember as a child learning with pastels {the same pastels I’m teaching my kids with…I’m going to by another set though because these ones are little numbs all these years later!} With a love for art as such a huge part of me I assumed that when I had children they would naturally LOVE it as much as mama! That has not been the case much to my despair. Last year my oldest Elias became slightly interested when he took a fun art class. But, still at home he didn’t want to do anything artsy at all *mommy holding back the tears*  Still no “Art Spark” UNTIL I got A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels!!!! IMG_0131

After downloading my e-book I decided to show the kids what we would be doing as our art this year. The twins were just stoked because they saw that pastels were “messy” but I was stunned as Elias scrolled through the pages oohing and awing! I was so excited that he was excited! He looked at me AND the spark was there! After he was finished looking through the book he told me “that is THE COOLEST book I have ever seen…lets get the chalk and do it now} so we did!

We decided that art would be our evening family activity! We selected “To The Woods” pg 40 as our first assignment! They loved it…everyone the twins, Elias & daddy!

My favorite things about the book…

Each chapter tells what supplies you need, then it breaks down the assignment for you step by step!

There are a number of different pictures showing technique & progress!

The chapters are written in a very easy to read/teach and to follow!

Any age group can do it and have a ton of fun!

The pages are brightly colored

Tricia and Luica have broken the book into sections:

  • Landscapes
  • Weather
  • Trees
  • Birds
  • Flowers and Butterflies
  • Food
  • Seasonal

Within each of those sections there is 2-12 different assignments!

Check out a sample lesson

Do you love art? Heck! even if you just kinda like art you would love this book! Honestly its fun! We have enjoyed the time together laughing and playing!

Need to know info…

  • illustrations of each picture by a variety of skill levels.  See how the Hodgepodge students’ drawings look.
  • Nana walks you through the steps of creating beautiful artwork.  She also provides tips on which colors to use for each picture.
  • Pastels are a forgiving medium and produce stunning pictures.  Most lessons can be completed in 10-15 minutes.
  • Art fun for all ages
  • Gather all ages around; A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels will have you creating beautiful pastel pictures in no time.

What do you think? Do you want to get your hands on an e-book copy of A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels?

Well my friend you have come to the right place! I’m giving a copy of A Simple Start in Chalk Pastels {e-book format} to one lucky reader of The Life in Bloom!!

I want to give a HUGE Thank You to the Amazing Tricia Hodges for this awesome giveaway!

Every time I pick this book up one of my FAVORITE childhood songs pops into my mind

The Lord told Noah
To build him an arky, arky
The Lord told Noah
To build him an arky, arky
Build it out of gopher barky, barky
Children of the Lord

Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord

When I found out the next book I would be reviewing was N is for Noah I thought it was going yet another storybook of Noah’s Ark…that was until I saw the Authors Names…it was then that I knew that it was going to AWESOME! Ken and Mally Ham did it again with N is for Noah! This book {or curriculum} is AMAZING!! Reviewing this book has been so much fun for our family. The style of the book is awesome can be read like any other book OR it can be set up on a table and used like a flip chart…so EVERYONE can see the pictures YAY! When it is used as a flip chart the pictures face the kiddos and the back gives parents all the information that goes along with the page, with headings such as: “Let’s Read” “Bible Bits” “Let’s Talk” “Always Remember” “Stuff to Do” & “Quick Review”

When the package arrived I don’t think we could have ripped into the package faster! My husband and I were both in love at first sight! This book is information packed! It has BEAUTIFUL full color pictures {that my kids LOVE} and it is doctrinally sound which mommy and daddy love!  Our older son {8} LOVES learning the bible and loves all the info and the  fun “extras” that this book has….he even likes that it coincides with the bible 🙂 Our twins {almost 4} Love the pictures, memory verses and the activities. They love flipping through the book and talking about what they see in the pictures with each other!  We are only doing one page a day…they would prefer 5, 10, 20 😉 This book will be a part of our family bible time and schooling for years to come! I cannot wait to show it to the children’s director at our church! We are also getting our kids A is for Adam & D is for Dinosaur for Christmas!

I know this goes without say but I HIGHLY recommend this book to EVERY family with kids and any family who homeschools!

Don’t miss out on the other books in this series

 A is for Adam

D is for Dinosaur

The First School Day of 2013-2014

Yesterday was our first official day of the new school year. I’d love to tell you it went off without an emotional” hitch and everyone was happy and full of smiles all day…yeah if I told you that I would be…lying! Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t bad it just didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped and dreamed it would be!

It started out WONDERFUL, all three kids were eager to start and so excited! We started with our bible study…they loved it! Then came We Choose Virtues….they loved it! It was some time later as we were doing our daily journal when Elias {8} started getting annoyed with his little brother {almost 4} then little brothers feelings got hurt, then his twin sister got all the markers and that caused another outburst…well you get the picture!

School wise, it was fantastic! Elias has gotten older so he can very easily work by himself which gave me the ability to work with the twins! This is our first “really real” structured {use that term loosely} and I wasn’t sure how it would go over since they are both EXTREMELY strong-willed! I’m pleased to say they really enjoyed it…actually they did more that I had planned. Am I under the misconception that it will be like this every day? Of course not, but I am absolutely tickled that it went this well today!

How was your first day? If you haven’t started when are you planning on starting? I’d love to hear!

Discover the joy and peace that come with daily surrender, with joyfully declaring each morning: Lord, I Give You This Day!

My thoughts…

Honestly I don’t know how it is possible but Lord, I Give You This Day was my first ever Kay Arthur book! Since receiving it I have become a HUGE fan and have accumulated a whole “Kay Arthur” Library…including her kids bible studies from Precept Ministries! If you don’t  know Kay Arthur, then let me make the introductions! If you do know her, well then you know you can’t read anything she has written without being inspired! This is so far the BEST daily devotional for women I’ve found! Every single day Kay Arthur’s message seemed to be written just for me! It spoke to me when I felt lost, it spoke to me when I felt sad and overwhelmed, and it spoke to me when I was happy and filled me with joy!  This book is a treasure, full of  insight and encouragement for each day.

A few little things I love: it’s smaller size, hardcover so you can carry it in your purse or diaper bag, and a ribbon book mark to hold your place.

Have been feeling like other devotionals are ho-hum? Lord, I Give You This Day is a very refreshing change. If you are looking for an encouragement packed devotional to jump-start your day in a way that will stick with you throughout the day as well as build your faith, I highly recommend this book.

This little book is a huge blessing written just for me….and you too!
