FF

Whoa it’s September!? Can you believe it? Summer sure went quick didn’t it? Well at least it did for us. Today I thought that I would do a Friday favorite! I haven’t done one in a really long time and since it is the first Friday in September it seemed perfect! Yes I am planning on keeping this as a regular Friday favorite series on my blog! Yay!

So today I have some very random favorites for you covering all categories!   So without further ado here are today’s Friday favorites!

Bible Belles: Hannah at the Belle Prayer:

Bible Belles Review {thelifeinbloom.com}

Last month I shared with you guys about a brand-new book series written for girls age 6 to 10. I showed you the first book in the series called The Adventures of Rooney Cruz: Hannah The Belle of Prayer! Since receiving this book my daughter has been obsessed! She loves this book so much. She always has it with her, she always wants me to read it to her and if I am not reading it then she is looking at it the picture! The picture above was on the day her and her twin brother were getting their “about six-year-old” pictures,  while she was waiting she grabbed her Bible Belles Book to look at it and I snapped this picture! How adorable! I highly recommend if you have a daughter/granddaughter of that age to head over to the  Bible Belles website and grab yourself a hard copy or an e-book! {If you’re interested in reading my review here’s the link}

Colourpop Cosmetics:

CP

Have you guys tried Colourpop Cosmetics? I have mentioned them many times in social media posts in the past but I just had to share more about them! They are more just a Friday favorite, they are an always and forever, every single day favorite! Their “Super Shock” eyeshadows are like nothing I have ever felt before! They have a creamy almost wet texture and when applied to your eyelid they ‘dry’ beautifully…but not in a dry cakey way, does that make sense? Then there’s the lippie sticks…awesome as well! They are super creamy! I love the matte lippies so I was thrilled when they came out with their ultra Matte liquid lipsticks. So far I’m only grabbed up two but I think I need them all! I am so once again amazingly impressed with Colourpop, the formulations, color payoff and lasting power are totally on point! On top of everything they just released their new fall line that is a throwback to the 90s and if you were a teenager or young adult in the 90s then you remember that awesome make up! This line was made for me, back in the day my sister and I always rocked the brown mauvey lips … and the eyeshadows…swoon! I’m so excited, so of course I had to order pretty much the entire line…arriving on Tuesday! EEEK! Oh guys duh! They are HIGH quality but check out these prices

  • Super Shock Eyeshadows $5
  • Lippies and Lip Pencils $5
  • Blush & Bronzer $8
  • Ultra Matte Liquid Lip $6
  • Collections/Sets $20-$39

AMAZING!!! Head over to Colourpop and grab some goodies! They are actually having a Labor Day sale:

KT Tape:

KT

I’m absolutely in love with KT Tape! As I’ve mentioned in past posts and social media posts I currently suffer from a slipped bulging disc that is pinching a nerve in my back. KT tape  has been an amazing lifesaver and keeps me pain-free! Without the KT tape my left arm goes fully numb because of the pinched nerve the KT tape does a great job of reliving that pressure on the nerve and gives me feeling back in my arm. KT makes me be happy camper! My husband has been loving the KT tape as well. He has severe tendinitis in his elbow/forarm which has resulted in some pretty excruciating pain, we’ve been taping his elbow and its doing just as awesome on his arm! Seriously if you have an ailment or are interested in learning more about KT tape I suggest you head over to their website and check it out! They even have videos on how to properly tape! Find KT tape in a store near you HERE!

Kirkland Signature ¼ Zip Pullover in Teal:

pullover

So other day we were walking around Costco, getting some groceries and we walked past a table with some of the new fall clothing and I immediately fell in love with this pullover. I got the teal color {pictured} and I cannot stop wearing it…seriously I have been wearing it EVERY SINGLE day since I got it! It’s fleece {ish} lined so it’s perfect on our evening walks since its been getting pretty chilly at night! I know that I’m gonna love it come fall when we’re out at the pumpkin patch or on hikes! If you have a Costco membership head over there they got a bunch of other colors! I’m going back to get the purple, the gray and maybe the red to add to my closet!

I am absolutely in love with these Flats to Go, they are rad you can literally fold them and throw in your purse but they aren’t just convenient they are so cute & stylish and really are comfortable, I mean you wouldn’t want to be walking on gravel in them because they are thin and light, however they get the job done beautifully and I have wore them all out and about and I get compliments on them all the time!  I highly recommend them of course check out because you put website and grab yourself a pair as well! I want them all…Now if they only had Pink and Purple! 😉

Who is Fred?
Answer #1
In one of the Life of Fred books, Fred Gauss was born on the western slopes of the Siberian mountains. By the end of the final book, he is six years old.
In his everyday life he first encounters the need for each new part of mathematics, and then comes the mathematics.
Never again will students have to ask their perennial question: “When are we ever gonna use this stuff?”
Answer #2
Stan Schmidt, the author of the Life of Fred series, became a full-time high school teacher the month he turned 22.
In his first semester of teaching, Stan drew Fred on the blackboard.
It was just a brief appearance: Fred was going fishing.
Then Fred appeared in other examples, and soon became a regular part of the classroom experience. One student in metal shop made a Fred Gauss belt buckle and gave it to Stan.
When Stan switched to college teaching, Fred came along with him. Fred’s biography continued to develop.
After eleven years of college teaching, Stan “retired himself” to an A-frame on six acres in the woods outside of Santa Rosa, California—waiting to find out what God wanted him to do next.
Eighteen years later, now living in Reno, he began writing the Life of Fred series. Two hours each day, starting at 4 a.m., Stan and Fred work on the next book. To be more accurate it should be pointed out that technically, Stan is a co-author since Fred is very much involved. It takes a rambunctious, full of energy at four o’clock in the morning child to get the day rolling that early!

The reason we study math is so we can apply what we learn in everyday situations. The students learn their math facts, rules, and formulas, and are able to use this knowledge in real life applications. The study of math is much more than committing a list of facts to memory. It includes memorization, but it also encompasses learning the concepts that are critical to problem solving.

Patterns of Nature consists of 30 lessons bound in an illustrated workbook. Science, at this level, mainly involves identification. Such subjects as seasons, seeds, wildflowers, weeds, trees, mammals, insects, songbirds, and the celestial bodies are introduced on the child’s level.

In addition we will also be involved in Soccer, Martial Arts, & Music Lessons…Plus there are some awesome field trips in the works!!

Smiles,
Britni

Book Review – Thank You, God, for Mommy

Thank You, God, For Mommy

Padded Board Book
By Amy Parker

Mommies do so much for us! It’s time to thank God for the blessing they are. In this adorable board book, a little panda thanks God for his wonderful mommy—a mommy who gives hugs and cuddles, who takes great care of him, and most importantly, who offers love and guidance for her precious panda cub.
The love and sacrifices of mothers everywhere will be celebrated by mother and child as they snuggle up together and say Thank You, God, for Mommy.

My review…

I got this book a few days after my birthday! I love it so much and so do my kids! The Panda Bear illustrations are precious…I love Pandas! My six year old son was so excited to read this book, he wanted to sit in my lap and cuddle while we read it, which I totally love…what mommy wouldn’t. Although it is a short little picture book, it is powerful and very sweet and moving! The beginning of each page starts with “Thank you, God, for Mommy…” and has a adorable illustration to go with each page.

Thank You, God, for Mommy,

And lullabies so sweet—

The beating of her great, big heart

Sings me right to sleep.

I would highly recommend this for every family! It is a perfect book to share with you little ones. Share your love for them and God’s beautiful love as well!

Homeschooling: Kindergarten – 1st grade – 2nd grade year has started!!!

We homeschool!! We LOVE it!

I LOVE flashcard! We can take these anywhere!! E loves them too!

Please Email with any questions about the books or flash cards I have posted today!

The many books I have added E’s homeschool curriculum!!

Since the Public school year has begun, people are always asking Elias if he has started school. He always replies “Yes!! I am homeschooled by my Mommy”. Oh, the looks we get. Sometimes they smile, but other times….Ahhhh, not so much. The other day I ran into another Homeschooling Mama, and she asked “what curriculum are you using?” I don’t think she liked my response, but thats ok. We all have to do what is right for our own children.
We officially started the school year on August 1st! I has been going great! Elias is so eager to learn. Before we began I hoped that we would do 45 minutes of work at a time with a 15 minute break between each activity. I didn’t want to overload him and them him end up dreading school. Much to my surprise we spend a average of 2 hours at a time on each subject (different ones each day…a max of 4) I couldn’t have asked for a better little student! This year I decided to combine Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades. Now, a month later our main focus seems to be more at the 1st-3rd levels!!!
Some of the things we have been learning:
reading,
addition,
subtraction,
the pledge of allegiance,
homonyms,
states and capitals (not all of course),
the planets
Still to come for the Fall season:
Thanksgiving, a one month study of Native Americans, for this we will focus on the Choctaw and Black Foot tribes (I am 1/16 Choctaw).
We will also do all kinds of fun activities dealing with:
Mammals,
Weather,
Seasons, and
Christmas…the Birth of Jesus, and what Christmas is all about.
Outside of the “regular” subjects, we will be working on:
Manners,
Respect,
Honesty,
Building Character,
Loving Family, and
Bible Study!
I made the decision early on that I would put together our curriculum, piece by piece! Over the last few months, and have put together what I believe to be a awesome school year plan!
