What I’m Loving | October| Beautiful Word Coloring Bible!

bible3

With hundreds of inspiring verses illustrated in detailed, ready-to-color line art, the NIV Beautiful Word™ Coloring Bible employs the proven stress-relieving benefits of adult coloring to help quiet your soul so you can reflect on the precious truths of Scripture. Perfect for all ages, the thick white paper with lightly ruled lines in the extra-wide margins, provides ample space for your own artistic expressions and journaling.

The NIV Beautiful Word™ Coloring Bible is a perfect gift that will become a cherished keepsake full of personalized creative expressions of faith.

Bible Journaling has become more than hobby but a way of worship for so many, it is something that I personally have loved doing since I was a child. I so vividly remember someone at church gasping  when they saw me drawing and coloring pictures in the margins of my bible, I was told that I was being disrespectful to Gods Word, I didn’t feel that I was at all and my mom ensured me I wasn’t either so continued {at home}. As I’ve gotten older I have found less and less time to draw in my margins but I still try to every once in a while. Recently I received a email from Zondervan sharing all the up coming releases… I squealed with excitement! Eek! The Beautiful Word COLORING Bible! Guys this is tailor made for me…it may as well be called “Britni’s Coloring Bible”

My heart lept out of my chest from excitement when it arrived! It is a beautiful Bible, the illustrations are great and create a wonderful time of worship as well as encouraging your God given creativity!!

 {Here is a blank margin I did}

Inside the Bible:

The pages are thicker than the average but they are still “bible” pages so still thinner than say that novel you’ve been reading. I would highly recommend colored pencils over watercolors, watercolor crayons and markers I feel like they would bleed through and possibly cause a big mess, but that is my opinion. If you are using watercolor make sure you put a blank sheet of paper under the page you are working on and allow it to fully drybible5

There are countless “coloring” pages…meaning the out line is already there you just color it the way you want, there are also TONS of blank margins giving you the opportunity to show your heart, feelings and faith! I love both aspects, where creativity is often times my middle name…the Lord has not blessed me with 5-6 more hours in the day making it very difficult to draw in the margins like I did as a child, they take time, so the pre drawn pages are perfect for times when I just want quite communion with God but maybe I only have 5-10 minutes. The blank margins are perfect for kiddo nap time, after they go to bed or that rare entire afternoon!

bible2

I would recommend this Bible to any friend or family member from pre- teen to 100 {there are other wonderful options for younger children}. In fact I already got my mom a copy, it arrived yesterday! She has been loving the adult coloring books {ooh who hasn’t!} She is a true artist and is in love with this Bible! With a price tag of $30 or less this stunning Bible will not break the bank especially if you are like my family and on a budget!

Already have it? Do you love it?

via Zondervan: Features of this treasured Bible include:

  • Hundreds of verses illustrated in ready-to-color line art
  • Thicker white paper for enduring note-taking
  • Lined, wide margins for notes, reflections and art
  • Full text of the most read, most trusted modern-English Bible – the New International Version (NIV)
  • Easy-to-read black letter text in single-column format

**Q&A: After posting I started receiving emails about where the colored pencils are from {in the top photo} They were from TJMaxx but I have seen them in Ross too.

The Ultimate Christian Living Bundle FINAL DAYS!

Who among us doesn’t want to lead a life worth emulating?

With great kids, a loving marriage, a successful career or business and a closer, faith-filled walk with the Lord. But for many of us, making that a reality is big challenge!

Balancing life’s priorities can seem a bit overwhelming at times. The pressures of work, the need for finances, the demands of parenting and the resulting strain on marriage can leave us weathered, weary and wondering what really works in life?

That’s where the Ultimate Christian Living Bundle comes in. Ultimate-Bundles.com called in some best selling authors, leading experts and top business professionals to address the most common challenges faced by families and individuals today – all from a solid, Biblical foundation.

For the ridiculously low price of just $34.95 (for the PDF version) or $39.97 (for the eReader version), you can get access to a carefully curated collection of eBooks and eCourses with a total combined value of over $1,140 that addresses these issues with stunning clarity and practical application.

For the family…

The bundle contains 10 wonderful books focused on incredibly inventive ways you can craft the marriage you signed on for. To complement that subject, they added 8 more books focused on parenting and passing on your faith to your kids. That wouldn’t be complete without books just for kids so they also included 8 children’s books that parents can read with their children. To close out the content for family life, the highly praised Singing Bible MP3 version was added (a $25 value all by itself). It actually teaches children the story of the Bible not just random stories.

For your professional life…

You will find John Muratori and Michael Pink’s six -hour Christian Wealth Building course ($77 value) which was complemented with Bob Lotich’s 31-day devotional Managing Money God’s Way. There are a total of 14 business related books and courses including Zig Ziglar’s powerful Born To Win course (that Seth Godin and Dave Ramsey rave about), Dr. James B. Richards, Wired For Success – Programmed For Failure and Untold Secrets for Creating Wealth by Brig Hart and John Beehner. You’ll even find one of the best selling Christian business books of all time, The Bible Incorporated – In Your Life, Job & Business.

To ignite your faith…

Rounding out the package, Bridge Logos and Moody Press made a series of classic Christian literature available from generals of the faith like Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, A.W. Pink, E.M. Bounds, Calvin, Wesley, Edwards and more who wrote about grace, prayer, faith and an overcoming life.

In addition to these wonderful classics, the Ultimate Bundles team snagged 12 heart-stirring devotionals from authors like A.W. Tozer and Nancy Leigh DeMoss that speak to matters of faith that are sure to inspire. Let’s not forget Gary Chapman’s Extraordinary Grace or Ray Comfort’s Way of the Master for sharing your faith with others. Both heartbreaking and inspiring, don’t miss Philip Cameron’s, They Call Me Dad, the story of one man’s fight to save orphans from human trafficking.

So as you can see, the Ultimate Christian Living Bundle is an extraordinary value.

But it still gets better…

The Ultimate Bundles team asked several sponsors to step up to the plate and with no strings attached, provide meaningful BONUS GIFTS. One of the first to step up was Dayspring Greeting Cards who offered a choice of heart-warming gift card packages to choose from.  Another, is a downloadable DVD workout series for getting in shape and maintaining health. With a retail value of $62.99 it includes a Biblical study guide for stewarding your health. Bonus gifts alone have a total retail value of over $160

So now you know…

For as little as $34.95 you can receive over $1,140 worth of valuable eBooks and eCourses that address the issues of life most of us face at one time or another, from a profoundly Biblical worldview. The BONUS GIFTS alone are worth more than four times the price of the bundle! Bible Study & Prayer Journal Printable Freebie {limited time}

CPOver the last month I have a ton of emails asking for specific printables…many of those requests included bible study printables. I love writing notes to my self in journals when I’m studying the bible. The problem is that I end up have 10 different journals. I wanted to create something that could easily go into a basic three-ring binder. What a particularly love about this set is that you only print what you need for each study! For example when doing a bible study such as SheReadsTruth you know from the beginning how many days/week the study lasts! I also reacted prayer request and praise pages! I feel like it is really important to have both. Sometimes we can become…well…hopeless when it come to prayer requests, this is a fallen world we live in and we see it and live it every day. Having the praise page will help us stay grounded when it seems all hope is lost, we can look at all the praises! In fact for me personally this week has been one of those times. ConqI have also included a lovely printable to keep us grounded as well! Romans 8:37-39 something I go back to time and time again. There is so much love, hope and comfort in these verses! We are more than conquerors and NOTHING can separate us from the love of Jesus! {paraphrase and emphasis mine} Before Downloading please SUBSCRIBE!

One week into Lent

heart
So I wanted to give a little bit of a lent update:
Last Wednesday {2/13} was the first day of Lent. This is the first year that we decided to participate! {Read more about our participation in Lent HERE} We decided to give up all drinks except water and sweets for Lent! It’s almost been a week now and I have so much more energy!! I’m not sluggish at the end of the day because of all the sweets in the drinks in the food that we are eating! I have even lost a few pounds which I’m really excited about!!
We also have stopped getting angry and yelling – every time I find myself getting upset I immediately seek God and start praying!  I have really seen a difference in my mood and honestly my kids moods too! Our home is over all calmer and happier!! AWESOME!!
What’s all this doing for my relationship with Jesus?  I have found myself praying and spending so much more time with God! I’m not consumed by what’s going on and getting upset or getting angry.  I’m not hyper and unglued and unable to focus because of all the sweets and all the sugar, I feel so much more calm and connected with God! I feel like I have the relationship that I’ve longed to have again!! In addition, This week I am starting my women’s Bible study in Ephesians and I’m really excited about it! I have even downloaded a daily devotional from my favorite you version app on Ephesians and another one on Galatians! If you don’t have the you version app I would highly recommend it it’s available in App Store!
I’m really happy that we decided to participate in Lent.  I feel like it has drawn me so much closer to the Lord and showed me that those things that I felt like I was relying on are so unnecessary and not something that I need to rely on nor need in my life!!
How about you did you decide to participate in Lent? How’s it going? I’d love hear!!

The Balancing Act…

20130110-150137.jpg

With family, kids, homeschooling, Church, and countless other activities we do as mamas it is easy to lose track of us…who we are. How often do you look back at your day and think “hmm I didn’t do one thing on MY to do list” yeah…I know it happens to me all the time too. I cannot tell you how many times after finishing the, schooling, the naps, the cleaning, the re-cleaning ect. I realize that I haven’t even taken a shower. I for one do not want to live like this, I want to take a shower…at least most days. I want to have a thriving relationship with my heavenly Father, I want more than this! How do we as moms find the balance? Here are a few things that work for me!

Get up Early:
I love getting up early! I love when the only noise I can hear is the breathing of my littles! Ideally I would live to be up at least 1.5/2 hours before the kids, but often they hear me and they want to get up too so I usually get 1 hour of time to my self, to relax, to de-stress, to dare I say it…shower!! That one hour gives me the ability to tackle the day, I’m happier and our days are so wonderful! There is nothing worse than a stressed mama to send the day down the drain!

Spend time in the Word:
When I get up early I devote at least 30 minutes reading the bible! I use the YouVersion app and journal passages that the Lord is showing me! After I have finished my reading (usually 4-6 chapters, I pray over my husband, my kids, our home! I cannot tell you what this does in me, in my heart. I am filled with peace, joy and love!

Make a date with a girlfriend:
How many moms really get to sit a visit with their friends and I mean outside of play dates? I think as moms we need that time…we need to be able to share with our friends, to encourage and be encouraged! Make a coffee date, or a shopping date, or how about a gym date!! I think I’ll make a gym date with my BFF!!

Take time to be alone {without feeling guilty}:
I know that the common thought is “I’ll have me time when the kids are in bed” but really let’s be honest here…Every time I plan to paint my nails or take a bath or blog, somebody can’t get to bed or is sick or…well you know what I mean! Not to mention what about The Hubby? When does time with him fit in? So what’s the answer…well for me, my sweet, amazing, gorgeous husband takes the kids shopping or outside to sled or even wrestle in the family room (that’s the kids favorite…nothing like beating up daddy) my hubby gauges what they are going to do based on the type of day I have told him I’ve had…man I love him! Not only does this bless me more than I can express, but the kids get daddy all to themselves and daddy gets to be the hero!

Pop in some headphones:
Try having quite time together (you know that quite time that you tend to need around hmmm 1:00-3:00) Usually when I get to the point where I need a break the kids are needing one too! When that time rolls around we on a DVD and grab some blankets and cuddle on the couch…they settle in to watch their movie and I pop in my headphone and open my YouVersion app on my iPad or iPhone! What I love about this app is that it has audio! So while the kids are engrossed in the movie I am 100% engrossed in my reading! The best part…I am cuddling with my kiddos!! Sometimes quite time even turns into the twins falling asleep! I love those moments!

Go on a date:
Seriously…a real date! Like the kind you get dressed in a dress for…the kind you do beautiful makeup for (not the everyday routine) the kind of date that you go to a restaurant and sit down! After our first son was born we didn’t want to have a babysitter so we did everything together or we would have our in-home date when he was sleeping. Then the twins came along, now there were three little ones we didn’t want to leave. For our 9th wedding anniversary we went on our first date since 2004…about 6 years! I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful it was!! We sat in a restaurant at a table without booster seats, we talked, we had a great time! It’s been two years and I can’t tell you how many dates we’ve gone on! The catalyst? My mom! She wanted us to experience time alone together without the kids…she knew just how badly we needed it! She is absolutely amazing! I can call her on friday morning and tell her we just really need some time, her response is always 100% of the time “ok! I’ll be there when I get off work, should I pick up something for dinner!” I am blessed!

Getting back into the swing of things…

anchoracademy_edited-2

If you are like me then January is the “getting back on track” month after the Christmas season! I go through this every year. Sometimes it can be hard to re-implement the school day after it has been weeks of…well no school! Here are a few tips that have worked for me!

20130107-093711.jpg

Resume Regular Scheduled Programming:
Are you like me and have a homeschool day schedule that works great for you? I have worked very hard to create a day that will keep my kids eager and engaged! For our home it is very important to resume our regular day as soon as January begins! I have found in past years if I drift from the schedule Elias is used to it just adds more stress and drama!

A Lighter Load:
After resuming our schedule I do make a few changes for the first week or two in January.

For the first week I cut each subject in half, this works great! (example: instead of the regular 2 chapters in History we’ll do one. We will have 2 worksheets in Explode the Code rather than 4) Elias doesn’t feel overwhelmed and it helps revive routine!

I focus on non electronic subjects. I steer away from the iPad and computer for that first week! If your kids are anything like mine Christmas break involved more than their fair share of video games!

Electronic Free School Room:
This is VERY important for my family! It is too easy for preschoolers and a grade schooler to get distracted! We have a separate homeschool room in our house so it is easy for us to leave the iPad, cell phones, iPods, DS, ect upstairs! If you do not have a separate school room I would highly recommend an “electronics basket” large enough to keep all your family’s distracting electronics in! Then put the basket in your room…out of site out of mind!

I do have designated game times in our school day! DS time is only about 45 minutes in the whole school day (broken in to short game times) Obviously game time something that you have to decide for your family!

Limit Activities:
Limiting our outside the home activities is curtail for us in January! Our kids have been going going going since Thanksgiving and it is time for a slow down! In January we have two things outside the home…Homelink and AWANA!

Family Time:
Lastly, I think that ending the school day with family fun hour is so important! It doesn’t matter the game the location…just that you are doing it as a family! (example: today there is snow…a whole lot of snow…there a lot of fun out there just waiting for the end of the day!)

Please feel free to download my Homeschool Planner! I have gotten great feedback! It has really helped other moms on track!!

My Father Loves Me

My Father…

Loves me – John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Cares for me – Matthew 6:26
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Forgives me – Psalm 103:12
“as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Is compassionate – Psalm 103:4-5
“who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Is giving – Romans 8:32
“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Is understanding – Psalm 139:1-2
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

Is accepting – Psalm 139:1-6
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”

Satisfies – Psalm 107:9
“for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

Persistently pursues me – Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Pardons – Psalm 103:3
“who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,”

Heals – Isaiah 53:5
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Redeems – Job 19:25

Is loving kindness – Psalm 86:15
“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”

Renews – Isaiah 40:31
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Is righteous – Jeremiah 9:23-24
This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

Is gracious – Ephesians 1:7-8
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,”

Is sovereign – Psalm 103:19
“The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”
