The Ultimate Christian Living Bundle FINAL DAYS!

Who among us doesn’t want to lead a life worth emulating?

With great kids, a loving marriage, a successful career or business and a closer, faith-filled walk with the Lord. But for many of us, making that a reality is big challenge!

Balancing life’s priorities can seem a bit overwhelming at times. The pressures of work, the need for finances, the demands of parenting and the resulting strain on marriage can leave us weathered, weary and wondering what really works in life?

That’s where the Ultimate Christian Living Bundle comes in. Ultimate-Bundles.com called in some best selling authors, leading experts and top business professionals to address the most common challenges faced by families and individuals today – all from a solid, Biblical foundation.

For the ridiculously low price of just $34.95 (for the PDF version) or $39.97 (for the eReader version), you can get access to a carefully curated collection of eBooks and eCourses with a total combined value of over $1,140 that addresses these issues with stunning clarity and practical application.

For the family…

The bundle contains 10 wonderful books focused on incredibly inventive ways you can craft the marriage you signed on for. To complement that subject, they added 8 more books focused on parenting and passing on your faith to your kids. That wouldn’t be complete without books just for kids so they also included 8 children’s books that parents can read with their children. To close out the content for family life, the highly praised Singing Bible MP3 version was added (a $25 value all by itself). It actually teaches children the story of the Bible not just random stories.

For your professional life…

You will find John Muratori and Michael Pink’s six -hour Christian Wealth Building course ($77 value) which was complemented with Bob Lotich’s 31-day devotional Managing Money God’s Way. There are a total of 14 business related books and courses including Zig Ziglar’s powerful Born To Win course (that Seth Godin and Dave Ramsey rave about), Dr. James B. Richards, Wired For Success – Programmed For Failure and Untold Secrets for Creating Wealth by Brig Hart and John Beehner. You’ll even find one of the best selling Christian business books of all time, The Bible Incorporated – In Your Life, Job & Business.

To ignite your faith…

Rounding out the package, Bridge Logos and Moody Press made a series of classic Christian literature available from generals of the faith like Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, A.W. Pink, E.M. Bounds, Calvin, Wesley, Edwards and more who wrote about grace, prayer, faith and an overcoming life.

In addition to these wonderful classics, the Ultimate Bundles team snagged 12 heart-stirring devotionals from authors like A.W. Tozer and Nancy Leigh DeMoss that speak to matters of faith that are sure to inspire. Let’s not forget Gary Chapman’s Extraordinary Grace or Ray Comfort’s Way of the Master for sharing your faith with others. Both heartbreaking and inspiring, don’t miss Philip Cameron’s, They Call Me Dad, the story of one man’s fight to save orphans from human trafficking.

So as you can see, the Ultimate Christian Living Bundle is an extraordinary value.

But it still gets better…

The Ultimate Bundles team asked several sponsors to step up to the plate and with no strings attached, provide meaningful BONUS GIFTS. One of the first to step up was Dayspring Greeting Cards who offered a choice of heart-warming gift card packages to choose from.  Another, is a downloadable DVD workout series for getting in shape and maintaining health. With a retail value of $62.99 it includes a Biblical study guide for stewarding your health. Bonus gifts alone have a total retail value of over $160

So now you know…

For as little as $34.95 you can receive over $1,140 worth of valuable eBooks and eCourses that address the issues of life most of us face at one time or another, from a profoundly Biblical worldview. The BONUS GIFTS alone are worth more than four times the price of the bundle! The Balancing Act…

20130110-150137.jpg

With family, kids, homeschooling, Church, and countless other activities we do as mamas it is easy to lose track of us…who we are. How often do you look back at your day and think “hmm I didn’t do one thing on MY to do list” yeah…I know it happens to me all the time too. I cannot tell you how many times after finishing the, schooling, the naps, the cleaning, the re-cleaning ect. I realize that I haven’t even taken a shower. I for one do not want to live like this, I want to take a shower…at least most days. I want to have a thriving relationship with my heavenly Father, I want more than this! How do we as moms find the balance? Here are a few things that work for me!

Get up Early:
I love getting up early! I love when the only noise I can hear is the breathing of my littles! Ideally I would live to be up at least 1.5/2 hours before the kids, but often they hear me and they want to get up too so I usually get 1 hour of time to my self, to relax, to de-stress, to dare I say it…shower!! That one hour gives me the ability to tackle the day, I’m happier and our days are so wonderful! There is nothing worse than a stressed mama to send the day down the drain!

Spend time in the Word:
When I get up early I devote at least 30 minutes reading the bible! I use the YouVersion app and journal passages that the Lord is showing me! After I have finished my reading (usually 4-6 chapters, I pray over my husband, my kids, our home! I cannot tell you what this does in me, in my heart. I am filled with peace, joy and love!

Make a date with a girlfriend:
How many moms really get to sit a visit with their friends and I mean outside of play dates? I think as moms we need that time…we need to be able to share with our friends, to encourage and be encouraged! Make a coffee date, or a shopping date, or how about a gym date!! I think I’ll make a gym date with my BFF!!

Take time to be alone {without feeling guilty}:
I know that the common thought is “I’ll have me time when the kids are in bed” but really let’s be honest here…Every time I plan to paint my nails or take a bath or blog, somebody can’t get to bed or is sick or…well you know what I mean! Not to mention what about The Hubby? When does time with him fit in? So what’s the answer…well for me, my sweet, amazing, gorgeous husband takes the kids shopping or outside to sled or even wrestle in the family room (that’s the kids favorite…nothing like beating up daddy) my hubby gauges what they are going to do based on the type of day I have told him I’ve had…man I love him! Not only does this bless me more than I can express, but the kids get daddy all to themselves and daddy gets to be the hero!

Pop in some headphones:
Try having quite time together (you know that quite time that you tend to need around hmmm 1:00-3:00) Usually when I get to the point where I need a break the kids are needing one too! When that time rolls around we on a DVD and grab some blankets and cuddle on the couch…they settle in to watch their movie and I pop in my headphone and open my YouVersion app on my iPad or iPhone! What I love about this app is that it has audio! So while the kids are engrossed in the movie I am 100% engrossed in my reading! The best part…I am cuddling with my kiddos!! Sometimes quite time even turns into the twins falling asleep! I love those moments!

Go on a date:
Seriously…a real date! Like the kind you get dressed in a dress for…the kind you do beautiful makeup for (not the everyday routine) the kind of date that you go to a restaurant and sit down! After our first son was born we didn’t want to have a babysitter so we did everything together or we would have our in-home date when he was sleeping. Then the twins came along, now there were three little ones we didn’t want to leave. For our 9th wedding anniversary we went on our first date since 2004…about 6 years! I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful it was!! We sat in a restaurant at a table without booster seats, we talked, we had a great time! It’s been two years and I can’t tell you how many dates we’ve gone on! The catalyst? My mom! She wanted us to experience time alone together without the kids…she knew just how badly we needed it! She is absolutely amazing! I can call her on friday morning and tell her we just really need some time, her response is always 100% of the time “ok! I’ll be there when I get off work, should I pick up something for dinner!” I am blessed!

Getting back into the swing of things…

anchoracademy_edited-2

If you are like me then January is the “getting back on track” month after the Christmas season! I go through this every year. Sometimes it can be hard to re-implement the school day after it has been weeks of…well no school! Here are a few tips that have worked for me!

20130107-093711.jpg

Resume Regular Scheduled Programming:
Are you like me and have a homeschool day schedule that works great for you? I have worked very hard to create a day that will keep my kids eager and engaged! For our home it is very important to resume our regular day as soon as January begins! I have found in past years if I drift from the schedule Elias is used to it just adds more stress and drama!

A Lighter Load:
After resuming our schedule I do make a few changes for the first week or two in January.

For the first week I cut each subject in half, this works great! (example: instead of the regular 2 chapters in History we’ll do one. We will have 2 worksheets in Explode the Code rather than 4) Elias doesn’t feel overwhelmed and it helps revive routine!

I focus on non electronic subjects. I steer away from the iPad and computer for that first week! If your kids are anything like mine Christmas break involved more than their fair share of video games!

Electronic Free School Room:
This is VERY important for my family! It is too easy for preschoolers and a grade schooler to get distracted! We have a separate homeschool room in our house so it is easy for us to leave the iPad, cell phones, iPods, DS, ect upstairs! If you do not have a separate school room I would highly recommend an “electronics basket” large enough to keep all your family’s distracting electronics in! Then put the basket in your room…out of site out of mind!

I do have designated game times in our school day! DS time is only about 45 minutes in the whole school day (broken in to short game times) Obviously game time something that you have to decide for your family!

Limit Activities:
Limiting our outside the home activities is curtail for us in January! Our kids have been going going going since Thanksgiving and it is time for a slow down! In January we have two things outside the home…Homelink and AWANA!

Family Time:
Lastly, I think that ending the school day with family fun hour is so important! It doesn’t matter the game the location…just that you are doing it as a family! (example: today there is snow…a whole lot of snow…there a lot of fun out there just waiting for the end of the day!)

Please feel free to download my Homeschool Planner! I have gotten great feedback! It has really helped other moms on track!!

Flourishing or Failing?

anchoracademy_edited-2

When it comes to Homeschool moms we often put ourselves in one of two categories…Either we are flourishing or we are failing as the teacher.  We are guilty of comparing ourselves with EVERY single homeschool mom we know! I’m completely guilty of this! There are weeks when we are at Homelink {Our co-op type group} and I see these other moms preparing for the next week surrounded by school books and calendars and I think ‘Ok, I am so far behind. I’m failing’ In reality I know that I’m not! In fact have a schedule {ha a laugh when I write “I” and  “schedule” together…FYI organization is NOT my middle name…not even close} ok back to what I was saying! I have a schedule that I like and works very well for us! However, when you are in that moment and you are talking with other moms who seem like that are so on their game it is so easy to feel like you just aren’t measuring up. Why?!? Her kids are not my kids! I know the way my kids learning and chances are they are totally different then her kids.
Is it really true…are we either Flourishing or Failing? How are we gauging this? Is comparing our kids to another moms kids, comparing our school week to someones else really going to give us a clear answer?
Recently I was chatted with a few ‘Teacher Mom’ friends of mine. I asked what the average week looks like in their home….
Teacher Mom #1 “We get up, the kids eat, they play! We do some math and reading, then they play. Later we do some history and science, then they play. Ending our day with some spelling and writing.”
Teacher Mom #2“7am is breakfast, then we spend anywhere from 45 mins to 1 hour per subject with lunch at noon. ending our school day at 2:30-3:00”
Teacher Mom #3“There is NO schedule, every day is different, every week is different.”
Teacher Mom #4 “5 subjects per day, they vary. We play games, do art projects, I read them books. We try to make every subject engaging!”Which of these moms is doing it right? Could they all be doing it right even though they are nothing alike? Yes! I think so! Something that my mom loved about homeschooling was the freedom to teach your child in the way that works best for that child! That is what I love about homeschooling!
Oh! by the way EVERY single one of the moms above told me that they have some much fun and so do their kids!!
Homeschooling for our family is to instill a LOVE for learning! That love that I have and that I know a lot of you have as well. I don’t want to ever hear my kids say “NO not Math” or “I hate reading” because of that it is my job to create a environment where my children are excited about learning! Where they can thrive and flourish!
There are so many different ways to achieve this!
What’s your Style?

  • Eclectic {using two or more styles

  • Charlotte Mason Method
  • Classical {the classical approach to homeschooling}
  • Uncschooled {child-led schooling approach}
  • Traditional {aka Text Book}
…or you do something totally different!

Are your kids learning? Are your kids having fun? Are you having fun and enjoying it?

GUESS WHAT!?!?! You ARE Flourishing! NOT FAILING!

It DOESN’T matter if your friend Sally is on such a schedule that it put ship captains to shame.
It DOESN’T matter if your friend June is disorganized and rarely has a schedule.

What DOES matter is that your child and you are sharing a love for learning…how ever you get to that point is up to you!

Flourish on Mama! Flourish on!

Lord, can I stay here forever?

Five Minute Friday {stay}

Start:

It’s a happy morning! The smell of hazelnut coffee fills the house. Laughter is heard coming for the kitchen while the kids eat their breakfast. Daddy is in his office downstairs and the kids know it and are eager to go tell him “good morning!!” Breakfast is over the kitchen is cleaned and I sit at the table in the dining room watching my little play together! Elias is teaching the twins how to put the letters in a new alphabet puzzle…they just want to force them in like most toddlers do! The morning is filled with “mommy I love you!!” “let’s play together” “it is time for math?!” {he loves math}
I look at them and I am filled with so my joy I almost can’t handle it. These little people are my children!! The Lord gave these little to me! In that very moment my husband walk up the steps…his hair is a mess, he is in his pajamas, and desperately needs another cup of coffee…but…I feel butterflies in my stomach, the kind I felt on our first date, or when we got married, or countless times since we met! I’m so in love with him! My life is full of blessings! I’m a very blessed wife and mommy! I’m filled with love, joy and a lovely sence of peace! I close my eyes tight, eyelashes damp with tears of joy…”Lord, can I stay I this moment forever?!” is my prayer. I know that at some point the arguing and fighting will start, someone will hurt someone else’s feelings, he’ll have to go back down to the office. But right now is this very moment…deep breath…I want to stay here forever.

Friday Road Trip!

Photobucket
A few months ago my brother-in-law and sister-in-law moved from Seattle {which about 4 1/2 hours to 5 hours away} to Moscow {which is only about an 1 1/2 hours away max!} We have been planning to drive down to see them for weeks…but work schedules have not worked out.

This weekend the local Fair was taking place and my hubby got of work at 9am and my sister-in-law was off! PERFECT! The kids were so excited to see their aunt and uncle and go to the fair!

Well surprise surprise we were about an hour and half behind yesterday. We had to drive 20 minutes in the opposite direction to drop off enrollment forms for Elias’ new Enrichment Study Program {Another Post soon all about that!! } THEN, we were finally on our way!

Any other parent would assume that at least one of our twins would fall asleep during a 2.5 hour car ride…right?! Yeah, they didn’t! They talked, they fought, they sang and they yelled…but they didn’t even come close to falling asleep! This made for a VERY long car ride, considering it was nearly 3 hours past their regular nap time…I had the brilliant idea that we should push out nap time because “they will fall asleep on the way there” ha!

Things that I said 1000 times in 2.5 hours!

“yes you do sing pretty”
“no we don’t have the Word Girl cd”
“stop touching your brother”
“stop touching your sister”
“stop spitting”
“stop yelling”
“yep those are wheat fields”
“please take a nap”
“stop yelling, I’m sitting right here”
“no we are not there yet”
“I’m hungry too”
“I’m thirsty too”
“I’m board too”
“quite kicking each others seats”

After asking “are we there yet” 1000 times we were finally there!!! YAY!

It was smooth sailing once we arrived! We got to see Uncle and Aunties new house, the kiddos had a great time playing with dogs!

At the fair we looked at animals, played games: all three kids won a multitude of prizes, the twins rode their VERY first Roller Coaster! We ate food…at little too much fried food for my liking but that all part of the fair right!? It was a tiny small town fair so we only spent a few hours there.

Then we heading to the College Grizzly Bear conservation area nearby. The kids LOVED being so close to the Bears! They had the adult ones out while we were there, they were huge! We could see the babies playing and growling…it was pretty darn cute!

We ended our day at a favorite Mexican restaurant! By then Gabbi had about reached the end of her rope, she was exhausted and Simon wasn’t too far behind. We loved the little town we were in…right out side the  restaurant was a play ground! The kids loved it. It made me wish that we had fun little areas like that nearby!

When we headed home the twins were out within about 5 minutes! Elias was in 15! It was a GREAT car ride home! My hubby and I got to talk about so many things, make decision, and just enjoy each other!

All in all it was a amazing trip and we are looking forward to doing it again…car trip and all!
