Journaling Bible {review}

unnamed-47

Not long ago I received the NIV journal edition Bible from Zondervan! What makes this Bible stand apart from other bibles? Well for me it’s right there in the title “journal edition” it’s oversized margins on every single page makes it so easy for me to jot down different thoughts or draw a pretty picture to remind me of the way that I felt when I read a specific passage. I really love this Bible and have enjoyed doodling and writing in it since I got it!

unnamed-48

This Bible is hardback and does comes in other cover colors. I absolutely love the turquoise Floral with pink elastic band {to help it stay closed} This quickly became my go to Bible, I love taking with me, I love reading it, I love drawing and I love writing in it. One thing that I do have to point out is that the text is smaller than the average Bible text. This particular bible is targeted towards girls/women, although I do believe that a lot of young men/ men would probably enjoy this as well, with that being said the cover option are not guy-ish, I  would really like to see some guy styles a maybe a Buffalo plaid cover {my hubby would love that!} or even just a solid black leather cover. I know my husband would love to have a journaling Bible.

I give this Journal Bible absolutely two thumbs up highly recommend it this would be a perfect gift, and is wonderful for anyone that loves journaling.

What I’m Loving | August | Minecrafters Bible

unnamed-15

From the back cover “Do you ever feel like it’s more fun to exist in the computer world than the real one? Is that the only place you can control your destiny? Well, God is the original great world builder, and he gave us the power and the skills we need to make changes in the real world. The Minecrafter’s Bible, NIrV contains the full text of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) as well as 24 color tip-in pages featuring full-color illustrations in the style of wildly popular virtual-world-building games. Featured stories include the days of creation and great builds of the Bible.”

First off no, this isn’t an instruction book of how to play mc4Minecraft {I recommend grabbing the set they have a Costco for that!}

Is your house like mine and at any given moment someone is playing or talking about Minecraft? When I heard that there was going to be a Minecraft Bible I was stoked to get it for my kiddos! I think this Bible is such a fun idea, the idea of combining  faith, creation, Jesus and Minecraft is genius! My kids all genuinely love reading there Bibles and studying God’s word but this Bible has added a fun spin of one of their favorite games.

The color illustrations {understand that they are not fully licensed Minecraft images they are “like” minecraft!} are placed in chronological order, but not next to the story they portray.

mc1

Each of the 24 color pages feature Minecraft as the Characters of Bible stories, including:

  • How To Use The Bible
  • Creation
  • Noah’s Ark
  • Tower of Babel
  • Ten Commandments
  • Building of the Tabernacle
  • Walls of Jericho
  • Samson’s Strength
  • David and Goliath

and so many more

Each picture also has verses and Scripture summaries printed on the picture as well.

I would have liked to see more “minecraft” pages , don’t get me wrong we LOVE the 24 included it would just be fun to have more. Also I would have LOVED to see this Bible in a NIV version or ESV as well!

mc2

This Bible would be great as a gift for the Minecraft gamer in your life! I would recommend this book ALL ages {I have seen many say this is “only for ages 4-10” my question is why? We all play Minecraft in our house, we all loved the illustrations} Mine crafters Bible…what a perfect conversation starter 🙂

One of our favorite Regal Relationships is found on {page 439 in the book of Psalms}

Royal route Psalm one “Have you ever watch the trees in the middle of the storm? Through the bend and this way, the roots buried deep in the ground anchor them and keep them standing strong. Someone tells us that we, as gods princesses, need to be like trees with strong roots. We need to grow deepen our understanding of God, his word, and his ways. This will enable us to stand strong against the bad things in this world. We grow deeper roots as we begin to trust God’s goodness and love towards us. God promises that at the right time, he will produce the fruit in our lives that will help others come to know him too. So learn and grow and stand tall in God’s love!

Wow right? I am so impressed with his Bible it is put together in such a fun and beautiful way!

IMG_4702

More than anything I am absolutely in love with the fact that this Bible is not a paraphrase Bible my husband and I are not big on paraphrased bibles, if we do get a paraphrased Bible like a children’s storybook, we always open up our Bible and read the actual biblical text giving them strong understanding of God’s word and what the Bible says!

God’s Little Princess Holy Bible is just a win-win in our home!

Do you have a little girl that maybe is going to be getting baptized or a birthday or maybe even Christmas this would make a beautiful special gift for the little girl in your life!

I absolutely recommend this if you have a little princess in your life this is a perfect addition to her very own library and to her faith!

wwt

Our family was first introduced to What’s in the Bible? through the children’s director and dear friend at our former church a few years ago. From the first time our son saw What’s in the Bible he was HOOKED! Then we borrowed a DVD from and watched it as a family…and we ALL were hooked! Not only does What’s in the Bible? make understanding the Bible easy for kids, but it’s done in a really fun way! Phil Vischer and his staff has done a phenomenal job with these DVD’s! The knowledge our kids have gained is amazing, our oldest LOVES reading his bible so that he can increase his knowledge. In fact the kid is so smart he can easily enter into conversations with adults {both the What’s in the Bible? DVD and the fact his dad was a youth pastor and currently working towards a biblical degree, have contributed to our sons knowledge:)}

Our kids absolutely LOVE all the cute characters..and so do we!

charac

My husband and I absolutely love that one of our favorite duos Rhett & Link {from Good Mythical Morning} sings fun songs…Like this one about Genesis in Vol. 1!

About Volume 1: In the Beginning

What’s in the Bible? Volume 1 is all about the beginning! It covers the book of Genesis and answers the following two questions:

Untitled-12

IMG_4474

Volume 1 covers some of the most popular Bible stories from the book of Genesis like, the story of creation, Adam and Eve, Abraham, Noah’s Ark, and so much more! They are SO MUCH fun! I love that kids are engaged and having fun while they are learning!

What’s in the Bible? is the perfect whole family bible time for our mornings! My  husband works from home so we are able to enjoy and learn through What’s in the Bible? together!

How we use the What’s in the Bible curriculum in our home:

In addition to the DVD’s there are a whole bunch of fun activities! {images below are for What’s in the Bible Vol. 1}

guide

IMG_4502

The Discussion guide asks all kinds of questions to review what your learned during the DVD!

  • What does the word “Testament” mean?
  • How do we know the Bible is true?
  • What does the word “inspired” mean?
  • Do you remember the name of the first book of the Bible? What does it mean?
  • How do you trust God with your life?
  • Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust the Lord with all your heard and do not lean on your own understanding.” What are ways you can apply this to your daily life?

I just saved this to ibooks on my iPad instead of printing it out.

pages

IMG_4496

There are a bunch of really fun coloring pages that go with Volume 1 like:

  • Volume 1 DVD Cover Coloring page
  • Adam and Eve
  • Cain and Abel
  • Abraham {Abraham and Isaac}
  • Noah’s Ark

I made each of the kids their very own coloring book!!

Flash

IMG_4512

These flashcards are AWESOME! They will help you and your kids remember all kinds of wonderful and important things from the DVD, such as:

  • What’s in the Bible?
  • How many books are in the Bible?
  • How many years did it take to write the Bible?

The Flash cards are really easy to make! Print, Cut out the cards horizontally {you will end up folding the cards so be sure you only cut on the horizontal lines}, Fold and tape together or if you want to get really fancy laminate them!!IMG_4476

The flash cards are my oldest sons favorite! I even printed a second set and instead of folding them I cut them all out and he play a memory game with them!

PSCL

IMG_4515

This is probably my kids favorite activity! They are able to learn all kinds of fun stuff while learning! For this activity there are some really fun printouts including

The kids love making their own puppet shows to tell the story of Creation or Adam and Eve! They also enjoy making up their own fun and crazy puppet shows…but they always come back to God and Creation…gotta love that!

{I printed out the puppets on card stock and the back grounds on regular paper}

In addition to all this great stuff there are a ton of printable memory verse cards!

IMG_4511 IMG_4510

These are one of my most favorite printables from What’s in the Bible? As you can see they are small, perfect for little hands! The kids each pick their own card each week and we learn them all as a family! The kids love that each card has a fun character, I love that they are learning and memorizing bible verses! There are some verse cards without characters I picked these ones specifically because of the characters *there are a TON of verse cards in the activity section. I printed out a bunch of different ones on card stock.

You can download and print all the activities here! {Psst…there are all kinds of activities for ALL the volumes!}

Ok so if I haven’t made it totally clear…We LOVE What’s in the Bible!

Grapevine Studies $25 shopping spree Giveaway!!!!!

unnamed

As I have mentioned before I love teaching my children through pictures and  Grapevine Bible Studies is absolutely perfect for us!

I love the way Grapevine Bible Studies differ from other studies not only in the use of stick figure drawings, but in the manner that it breaks down sections of the Bible into small, bite-sized, digestible chunks of memorable information! My children are able to easily retain what they are learning in each bible study while enjoying it as well!  As your children work through the five-part-lessons they understand the biblical characters and events in terms of their context, chronology, culture and geography PLUS they get to draw pictures! Learning the bible and drawing whats not to love? No matter what we other bible studies we do my children LOVE their Grapevine Studies and keep coming back to them!

screen-shot-2013-03-21-at-1-05-15-pm

I love having the full color Teacher’s Book {note: I don’t print the teacher books I just open them on my iPad.} The Teacher Book guides you through the daily activities! Each lesson begins with reading scripture from the Bible, followed by discussion of the scriptures(s), which is sometimes followed by a map assignment. Looking up key words in the Bible dictionary!

When it comes to Grapevine Studies there are a number of age options! The studies are broken down into age  categories

  • TRACEABLES  perfect for AGES 3-5
  • BEGINNER  for AGES 5-7
  • LEVEL1 for AGES 6-8
  • LEVEL2 for AGES 8-10
  • LEVEL3 for AGES 10-13
  • LEVEL4 for YOUNG TEEN
  • MULTI-LEVEL for AGES 7 AND UP

My twins loved the traceable last year when they were 3 and this year are enjoying the beginner level! Our oldest is a mix of level 2 and 3. However I would highly recommend the traceables for any reluctant drawers no matter their age…my son was one. Also the Multi Level is AWESOME for those of us with children of all ages. We have the Multi Level for 4 and up. What I love about Grapevine Studies is that you are able to mix and match to get the perfect study for your child no matter their age!

In addition to that they also come in two different format options Print and Ebook. Personally I have only gotten the ebook versions that way I can print what I need ,when I need it, for who I need it for…mama win! I have friends who only buy the print versions because they like that its all there and ready. It is absolutely personal preference.

Wanna test it out? Get a Free eBook Lesson – Last Supper eLesson

Ok it gets better than a free eLesson? The wonderful Dianna at Grapevine Studies is giving one of my lucky reader a $25 shopping spree!!!
