TNT Force Cheer by Dana Burkey

Looking for an amazing book series for your daughter or yourself? Look no further than TNT Force Cheer by Dana Burkey!

So, there are two types Cheerleading, one is Friday night football, pom poms & pleated skirts. The other is full of human pyramids, flips and flyers, known as competitive cheer.

Competitive Cheer is the setting for TNT Force Cheer and follows Max Turner a 12-year-old tom boy. I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll stop there 🙂

The series is geared towards tweenagers around the same age as Max {however the books are fully enjoyed by an older and younger audience} Dana Burkey writes with age-appropriate language which I absolutely love and appreciated as a mother!

I feel like this would be a perfect series for readers in grades 4-8 but it is not limited to that age group, my 2nd grader and I love the first book and cannot wait to read the rest!

Not involved in competitive cheer? No worries you are sure to enjoy this series, but be prepared because you just might fall in love with the sport and want to join!

Courage to Soar {Book Review}

unnamed-49

We all watched as Simone Biles dazzled us in Rio this summer. With her adorable spunky personality how could you not love her! Actually because of her and my daughter {age six} fell in love with gymnastics and started in September after the Rio Olympics. Seeing Simone’s determination helped my daughter work hard and always try new things, and in less than two months she was advanced to pre-competitive team!! I know that my daughter is not the only one 🙂

Back to this summer, as you watched Simone did you ever wonder how she got there? Did you ever wonder when you would hear the little news blurbs talk about how she was adopted or how it’s been a hard road? I know I did so when I was given the opportunity to get my hands on her book Courage to Soar I absolutely jumped at the opportunity (my daughter was just as excited as I was.)
In the book the Courage to Soar Simone shares about her very early life, early memories and the trials that this little tiny girl and her siblings went through…have a few tissues on hand. It’s not just about her early life but her life from then up until, well now! My daughter LOVED the section of the book that was full of pictures of Simone from little girl to now!

unnamed-50

Courage to Soar is all about encouragement and that is exactly what it does! I love that it shows how Simone went from a very difficult beginning to being the star that we all saw at the 2016 Rio Olympic games.

It’s such a wonderful book. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially those of you like us who adore Simone. If you have gymnast this is a book that she will absolutely love.

If you do have a gymnast who loves Simone I recommend check out her signature leotards at GK Elite!

The Adventures of Rooney Cruz: Hannah, The Belle of Prayer Review

Bible_Belles_Pink-Menu-Logo-high-res

Bible Belles is a series based on five superhero women of the Bible: Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth, and Deborah. HEARD. These women were extraordinary because they made a different kind of noise than the noise of today’s world. Today, the girls who are loud, rude, and obsessed with outer beauty are the ones a lot of girls look up to and try to act like. The Bible Belles series is a new way for girls to celebrate the qualities that make up a truly beautiful woman: prayer, patience, bravery, loyalty, and leadership. These five women represent the journey a young girl can take to understand God’s love and to be someone whose beauty isn’t measured by society’s standards. They symbolize the transformation of a girl who learns to see true beauty in herself and in others.

Today, I want to share an awesome new book, The Adventures of Rooney Cruz: Hannah The Belle of Prayer {book one in the series!} Honestly, this is hands-down one of the best books that my daughter and I have EVER read! She loves it and is already anxiously awaiting Esther {coming 2016}

RooneyAbout the adorable ROONEY CRUZ:

In Book One of the Bible Belles series, Rooney Cruz isn’t exactly having a great day. The normal teasing on the playground and, oh, that mud puddle! But soon an angel appears, and Rooney begins a journey that will change her life forever.

She makes a shocking discovery: superheroes are real, and she’s one of them!

Join Rooney as she uncovers the first secret superpower that she possesses: the Power of Prayer. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that will transform her into the greatest superhero of all: a Bible Belle!

About the book: the story starts with the Rooney dealing with some not so friendly girls on the playground. The girls are mean and complement her sarcastically, she slips and falls in the mud making the girls laugh, point at her and even threw a rock at her. Rooney just wants to be left alone so she runs to her favorite spot underneath an oak tree at the far edge of the playground. While she sits under the oak tree she wonders “why are they so mean?” “I don’t get it

BThen Rooney here’s Ring a ding DING! Where is that sound coming from? she wonders. It’s her angel, Mari. Mari is teeny tiny angel who takes her on a magical journey to past and into scriptures! They go visit a girl named Hannah, like Rooney Hannah know some not so nice girls.MariThey watch Hannah to see how she deals with similar situations when she was being bullied. Rooney learns that Hannah felt bullied by the other wife of her husband named Peninnah. She also learns when Hannah cried out to God and God heard her!

When they arrive back in the Rooney’s real life she is able to reflect on Hannah’s experience and cries out to God through a real honest heartfelt prayer.

The story ends with a little bit of a cliffhanger, we don’t know how it all ends up with the girls on the playground, but what we do know is whatever happens Rooney has learned that she can talk to God when ever she wants or needs to and God with willing carry all her troubles with him, he will hear her and he will always support her no matter what!

I absolutely love the message of the story, we all need to be reminded that God is always with us and he wants us to bring our questions, concerns and fears to him daily. He is an amazing God and gives us wisdom and insight into situations and no matter how the situation turns out he is always there with us to take care of us. This is exactly what I want my daughter to know! She loves EVERYTHING about this book, the illustrations and Rooney {who she happens to look a lot like!} It was so perfect and spoke to her little heart!

The book is wonderfully written by Erin and gorgeously illustrated by Rob Corley, a former Disney animator. We can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series! Psst…Esther: The Belle of Patience, coming out in early 2016!!!!

About the Author:

W15 186

Erin is an enthusiastic and goofy mom to two children, one of them with paws. She is a wife, teacher, former college athlete, and a five time cancer survivor. Her heart is in Seville, Spain, though she calls Encinitas, CA home. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach with her husband and daughter, coaching sports, and pretending she can bake. She loves eating, laughing, and volunteering at Sunday school. Alongside her husband, she is the co-founder of Bible Belles.
