Growing up my mom loved Dolly and I did too! I loved her amazing voice and her bubbly personality! I’ve always loved that she was from a big family, I’m the youngest of 9! She always made me smile. She is not only an amazing singer but a fantastic actress! My favorite version of Baby its cold outside is the duet with Dolly and Rod Stewart, it seriously doesn’t get better than that!

Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors - Season 1

So, months ago when I heard that there was a new movie coming out about Dolly’s upbringing, I knew I wanted to see it. Over the years I had heard bits and pieces about her life as a young girl and her family but nothing like what the movie would bring! This is a beautiful movie perfect for the whole family. Have you ever wondered how Dolly went from “dirt poor” {her words} to where she is now? Or how she started singing? This tells the whole story and I highly recommend it! Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors was released on May 3, 2016

“Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” is based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today.

The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor a musical about Dolly’s whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family’s life around the time she was nine years old.

Alyvia Alyn Lind will portray nine-year-old Dolly Parton, with Jennifer Nettles as Parton’s mother, Ricky Schroder as her father and Gerald McRaney as her grandfather.

“Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” is written by Pamela K. Long. She executive produces with Sam Haskell and Dolly Parton. The film is a production of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and DP Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
