31 Day Fit Challenge: DAY 3

DAY 3:

Over the last two days I have learn a couple things…

  1. Just because its basic doesn’t mean it isn’t going to work…defiantly feeling sore..YAY!
  2. I do the best when I do my workouts early in morning! The longer I wait the harder it is. I recommend first thing in the morning…if you have kids do the challenge while they are having breakfast, if you are heading to work do the challenge before you take a shower, when you start your day with a workout you will have a happier day!

So let’s get started with day 2!

Grab your Progress Log {click image below to print} and get ready to track todays workouts!

Yay! I’m so happy I was able to beat my sores from yesterday…but man those squats killed me…my thighs and butt are so sore!

Day 2: Crunches 68 | Day 3: Crunches 74

Day 2: Push ups 30 | Day 3: Push Ups 33

Day 2: Squats 55 | Day 3: Squats 60

How did you do today? Let me know using #31dayfitwithbrit I cannot wait to see!

31 Day Fit Challenge!

31

As I sat listening to my children splashing and playing in the pool it dawned on me that OMG today is the last day of July…ummm what the heck wasn’t it just the 4th of July? I started thinking I want to do something fun and special on my blog for the month of August, but what? Then it hit me…a 31 day tailored workout challenge! A little backstory:  Over the last few months I have really be struggling with staying motivated…I unfortunately had a bad experiencing with a VERY well know fitness program and its creator {but thats another story for another day…maybe} the bad experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and a beat down unmotivated heart…sad but true. I have been feeling like I REALLY need a kick in the pants and prayed that I would feel motivated and re-start my journey…then yesterday I got a HUGE motivation when a friend hit her 1 year weightloss journey anniversary and is down more than 80lbs!! Talk about motivation right?

Hey! Lets start a journey together!

I mentioned above that this will be tailored to each person…what do I mean? We will start each week with a fitness test to see our personal fitness level! It’s actually pretty basic workout but will give results:

  • Squats
  • Push ups
  • Crunches
  • Cardio
  • Walking

Daily Cardio: This can be anything you want…Zumba, running, piyo, crossfit…etc. Just something that gets you heart pounding for 10-30 minutes.

Daily Walking: A minimum of 1 mile daily {thats really easy to get you’ll be surprised} My husband and I walk 4-6 miles every single day. If you start out walking 1 mile increase by a 1/2 mile each week until September, working towards 3+ miles.

Fitness Test: Tomorrow {and each Monday this month} will be a fitness test! What does this mean? Basically we are going to set a timer for 1 minutes {we will increase this each week} and see how many Crunches, Push ups and squats we can do!

Don’t forget to print this Fitness Log to keep track of your daily workouts!

31challenge

How the fitness test works: grab a timer and set it for one minute then do as many Crunches as you can do in that minute, reset the timer and do as many squats as you can do, then reset and do as many push ups you can do. DON’T forget to write down your scores on the Fitness Log! The numbers you record are your starting scores, each day you will try to beat the previous days score so you are competing with yourself not someone else!…you may only be able to do 3-5 more but trust me as the days go by you will be surprised how much more strength and stamina you have!

Things to do tomorrow morning:

  • Weigh in {don’t skip this because it will be motivating to see the difference between the 1st weigh in and the last.}
  • Take a full body photo {I know some of you just cringed but this will be such a great motivator throughout the month.
  • make sure you have cold water in the fridge or freezer {especially with the hot weather you NEED to stay hydrated!}

I will meet you back here tomorrow afternoon and let you know my day 1 scores and how I’m doing!

If you haven’t already subscribed please do! I want to know how you are doing throughout the month!

Hemp Hearts by Manitoba Harvest AND Giveaway!!!

logoToday I’m sharing Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts! When I think hemp I cannot help but go back to my Jr. high years {if you were in junior high or high school in the early 90s you probably know exactly what I’m about to say :)} remember the hemp necklaces and bracelets? It was the cool “new” friendship bracelets. I had so many cool hemp choker necklaces and bracelets…my mom probably still has a few in my old bedroom! It was just so cool to rock some hemp necklaces or bracelets! OK OK I digress, let’s get back on track!

This was my very first product by Manitoba Harvest. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I heard that I would be getting Hemp Hearts. I didn’t know much about Manitoba Harvest or Hemp Hearts, so I set out to find out more! After a little research I discovered that Manitoba is the largest hemp foods manufacturer…did you know that? Do you know they even have their very own line of hemp foods.

Let’s talk Hemp:

What is hemp you ask? Simply put, hemp is a super plant!

Food, clothing, rope, paper, building materials, animal bedding/herd, plastic, paint, fuel – the list of hemp applications goes go on and on. We like to call hemp the “green buffalo” as every part of the plant can be used. Hemp that is grown in Western Canada is primarily used for hemp foods. At the top part of the hemp plant you will find the hard hemp seed. This small seed “seeds” nutritiously delicious products like Hemp Hearts, hemp protein powder, and hemp oil.

Hemp has been around for centuries and has played an instrumental role in shaping our continent. Settlers were given free land if they grew hemp. The Declaration of Independence draft was written on hemp paper. Hemp materials were used in numerous war efforts. Hemp was integrating into modern life until it was ‘temporarily’ banned due to misconceptions. Yes, hemp is a species of Cannabis sativa. No, hemp is not the same as marijuana.

At first glance hemp hearts look a lot like uncooked quinoa or maybe couscous, but they are definitely something all their own!

Manitoba Harvest Logo
The taste:
Hemp Hearts taste great! I actually find the slightly nutty taste very similar to red quinoa. They have a very unique (in a good way) taste that compliments other tastes and flavors. I have yet to find something they don’t got good with.

How to use Hemp Hearts:
Hemp Hearts are very easy to use! I like to sprinkle Hemp Hearts on salads and cereal and the kids love them sprinkled on fruit and yogurt! I also love adding hemp hearts to smoothies and you the added bonus protein and omegas that these awesome little things are packed full of!

Fun Fact: Hemp Hearts have more protein and Omega’s and less carbs and then favorite other seeds such as Chia or flax.

A Favorite Recipe:

First of all I want to apologize I did not get pictures of this delicious turkey burger that I’m going to tell you about and I’m so sorry for that, usually I’m so good about getting pictures but I have just been off my game without a lot of stuff going on in her family so again I apologize guys! Now, onto the turkey burger!

For years I have made this delicious turkey burger:

I mix together

Extra Lean Ground Turkey

Dijon Mustard

Mango Chutney

Greek Yogurt

Then form patties and grill {be sure you use non stick or foil because these burgers tend to fall apart somewhat easy}

With just these few ingredients these burgers are SO good, but a few weeks ago I decided to toss in a couple of tablespoons of Hemp Hearts and it added such a delicious dynamic to taste of these burgers, I just can’t even explain it other than it gave a delicious nutty taste! Other meals Hemp Hearts have been delicious in or on: Sprinkled on our favorite Steak and Veggie stew {awesome for fall!}, oatmeal with fruit,  mashed sweet potatoes oh and sprinkled on top of peanut butter banana toast…DELICIOUS! Hemp Hearts add so much to the taste but more than that they add so much nutrition!

Bulu Box Review

FallinLove

Disclaimer: because of my relationship with fit approach and being a sweat pink ambassador I was sent a complementary Bulu box in exchange for a blog post and review. All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own and honest.

First things first…what is Bulu Box? “Bulu Box is the first health, nutrition and weight loss discovery box designed to help you feel your best. Each month, you’ll get a custom box filled with a new mix of 4 to 5 premium samples from top brands to try. Every sample is sufficient enough to decide if the product is right for you.” Honestly I had never heard of Bulu Box until I received one due to my ambassadorship with sweatpink. But I’m so glad I know about it now!

Bulu Box is the best way to discover healthy, nutrition and weight loss products.

Bulu Box is such an awesome idea! I love that there are two different box options to choose from!

Bulu Box Original

Bulu Box Original:

This box provides a well-rounded sampling of all things health and nutrition.

Each box contains 4 to 5 premium samples such as sports nutrition, sleep, and healthy snacks.

Plus lifestyle extras like gym gift cards or DVDs to cover all aspects of health!

Bulu Box Weight Loss

Bulu Box Weight Loss:

Designed specifically to help with the varying factors of weight loss,

this box contains 4 to 5 premium weight loss items such as energy aids,

healthy snacks, sleep aids and fat-burners.

Plus bonus weight loss items like fitness gear and kitchen tools.

How it works?
1. Try Samples:
You’ll LOVE discovering new products, but just as important as finding your new healthy faves is seeing which products don’t work for you. Try 4-5 samples based on your profile before buying full-size so you don’t waste your money.
2. Earn Points:
Speaking of money, want some more? Each month you can earn up to 100 Rewards Points (that’s $10!) just for subscribing and sharing your thoughts. Log in to your account to fill out your sample surveys about the products you just tried.

3. Cash Out:
Once you’ve earned Rewards Points you can use them like actual cash towards a full-size purchase of your new favorite product. Some Bulugans even get their order completely free! How many points can you rack up?

On to My Bulu Box!!!

BULU

I received my Succeed at Weight-Loss Bulu Box a few days ago and it was full of five awesome weight loss related product samples and an info sheet about each product! Plus it comes in a super cute bright orange box!

What was in my box:

runa_tea_group

Runa Tea: A healthy energy boost

shapeology_garciniacambogia_bulusite

Shapeology Garcinia Cambogia: Stimulant free fat burner

movit_gummies_single_1
Movit Energy Gummies: On the go energy

quest_protein_powder_packets_vanilla_milkshake
Quest Protein Powder: More than just a protein shake

earths_care_anti_itch_cream
Earth’s Care Anti-Itch Cream: natural proven itch relief

I absolutely love the idea of Bulu box! This is the perfect opportunity to try out a bunch of different products and find out if you like them or not and if you want to buy the full-size version. It’s a win-win!

I love everything that came in my box. The itch cream smells awesome and felt great on my skin! I have a really dry skin, in all seasons it doesn’t matter if it’s summer, winter, spring whatever the season my skin is dry so this anti itch cream was perfect! I love the vanilla quest protein powder, the Movit Gummies are delicious and the tea was wonderful! Here’s the Debbie Downer part…Shapeology Garcinia Cambogia supplement. It only came with two capsules so it’s virtually impossible to form an opinion if it was something that I want to buy in the full-size version. In my personal opinion I don’t think a supplement with that small of a sample should be included in the box. However with that being said I love the box and am looking forward to my next one! I highly recommend this box and think that you will love it! I also LOVE the BuluBox Blog! If you’re interested please take advantage of my 50% off code SWEATPINK you can choose from 50% off 3, 6 or 12 months subscriptions with this code!!!

DiscountCodeI want to give a big shout out thank you to FitApproach, SweatPink & BuluBox!

Now its your turn, have you ever tried a subscription box before? If so, what’d you think? If not, whats holding you back? I’d LOVE to know!

Goals!

CFHLG

This week #SweatPink asks: “What are your current fitness and healthy living goals? What’s your strategy for staying on track with achieving your goals?”

This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, with the season change quickly approaching {where I live at least} and the face that I’m currently battling a significant slipped and bulging disc that is pinching a nerve in my back {do to a serious fall} and lot of taking it easy {Bummer!} This seems like a perfect time to set some new goals! Hmmm, you know what? Some time a little reevaluation is exactly what you need to get motivated!

My Current Fitness & Healthy Living Goals

  • Heal & find workouts that I can do with my injury:

Because I really have to take it easy on my upper back and shoulder I’ve really been focusing a lot on lower body workouts, walking and running with my husband!  I have been doing Zumba and honestly a whole lot of Pinterest searching for lower body workouts that will be gentle on my back, that will make me sweat, and give me the cardio I’m looking for. Like this one from the always encouraging and lovely Natalie Jill

f9a9b5da54b29417544ca9dd46f67203Visit My Pinterest Fit & Healthy Board

Let’s talk ZUMBA!!! Honestly guys, if you are feeling down, discouraged or just not motivated I HIGHLY recommend Zumba! It’s so much fun, gives an awesome cardio workout and you can do it at home when ever you want! For me personally there is a huge plus, even with my injury I can still ZUUUMMMBBBAAA! Here are some of my favorite YouTube videos all from CLUB FITz…my personal fave! These 6 videos can act as a super fun and intense cardio workout {the first video is a slower warm up video. I end with it again or stretches}

I dare you not to have fun and feel ready to conquer anything the days throws at you after doing one or all of these Zumba routines! I know I do injury and all!

  • Give my body the right Fuel:

I have recently really gotten back on track with my healthy eating goals! YAY! A few months ago I kind of slipped off my low-carb eating…ugh…yes I paid the penalty and gained back some weight. I was extremely disappointed {even thought it was my own fault} so my husband and I reassessed our eating and realized we needed to get back to our low-carb lifestyle and hit it hard! I have already seen results {we were on vacation and ate like crap but I didn’t gain at all!} I feel so much better, I have so much more energy and I know it’s because of my low carb lifestyle!

One of the ways that my husband and I have achieved our low-carb lifestyle is honestly by using the entire Atkins line! I have shared before how much I love the Atkins so I won’t go on and on about it! See my posts about Atkins HERE!

  • See my progress:

Keeping track of my fitness, weightloss and eating is really important for me. There is just something about writing it down that makes me feel more accomplished! For this I have been using a few different printable that I created months ago for my readers!

  • Get more sleep:

This remains an ongoing struggle for me.  I aim to be in bed by 10:30/11. However I have a really bad habit of  “oops I forgot” until oh 11pm. My goal is to delegate my “day” time better and learn that I DO NOT have to do something I forgot to do during the day….it CAN wait. It will be difficult but I am determined to get the sleep I need and my family needs me to get!

What are your current fitness and healthy living goals? I’d LOVE to hear!
