GFIB7

Last week Gabbi’s first ever Gym Fox in a Box arrived! It comes in a white box and is personalized with your daughter’s name! Gabbi was so excited when she saw the “Gabriella” on the package! I love that they personalize like that, it really made Gabbi feel so special. Not only is the box personalized but the leotard is hand selected for your gymnast! After selecting your subscription plan {more details will be below} you are emailed a survey asking all about your daughters style, color preferences, size and more! It worked like a charm Gabbi LOVES her leotard that the awesome Gym Fox in a Box team selected for her!
GFIB4
This months box had adorable Gym Fox in a Box branded sunglasses, ABOUTTIME Protein Pancake mix in chocolate chip {Gabbi’s all time favorite!} and Gabbi’s had this GORGEOUS Motionwear open back Leotard in all her favorite colors! Each box is unique so one of Gabbi’s friends received a GK leo in her box while another received a Foxy’s Leo on her box, this makes it so much fun {they love to see who got what!} If you have two {or more} little gymnasts with different preferences Gym Fox in a Box would be perfect, no compromising personality with this box!

This is Gabbi’s first ever Motionwear leotard and we are totally in love! Motionwear defiantly specializes in open back leotards and its no wonder just look that this back!

GFIB6

Gabbi says that this leotard is “so soft and so comfy” plus it has the most gorgeous sparkle to it! Honestly I cannot believe we have over looked Motionwear for this long! Thanks to Gym Fox we may have a new favorite brand! 🙂
Abouttime pancakes mixes are SO good! They never disappoint! I love that Gym Fox in a Box included this. With how much time Gabbi and so many other gymnast spend at the gym and conditioning this was a perfect and much appreciated fit!

Gymnastics Leotard DOs and DON’Ts {HIGHLY requested}

leolove

It may seem like the leotard is the easiest part about gymnastics but any gymnastics mom knows that is so NOT the case. In fact sometimes the leo can actually be the most difficult part (especially with littler girls or girls with sensitive skin) Gabbi is very picky about fabrics, she has very dry skin so different fabrics can make her very itchy. Gabbi has ‘very specific’ likes and dislikes as I’m sure all your daughter do! I rarely get Gabbi a leotard without having her input.

Here are few DOs and DON’Ts to help make leo shopping as easy as possible! {These are just my thoughts and what has worked for us 🙂 }

DOs {in no particular order}:

  • DO buy leotards that show off your little gymnasts personality- colors, styles, fabrics etc.
  • DO buy sleeveless leotards, they are by far the favorite and most practical for most climates. Gabbi says they are the most comfortable!
  • DO buy at least one fancy competition style leotard. This will be perfect for personal photos, team pictures, in-house gym meet up or just so your little gymnast feels special!
  • DO buy backless leotards especially if you are in a warmer climate. Foxy’s Leotards is great for this! There are some SUPER cute new summer styles that just dropped!
  • DO buy 2nd hand leotards, you can get a great deal for gently used! eBay and children’s consignment shops are great options. I got Gabbi a practically brand new K-Bee leotard for $5!!
  • DO accept hand me downs. Even if they are a bit big at the time you little gymnast will grow into it.
  • DO buy dark leotards especially if your gymnast is self-conscious about sweat {for older gymnast this is a great option for certain times of the month it may thwart a would be an embarrassing situation}
  • DO buy leotards with a bit of growing room
  • DO wait for sales on your favorite brands sites!
  • DO refer to each brands sizing chart. Rarely to never are sizing charts even close from brand to brand.
  • DO know your daughter measurements {chest, waist, hips and torso} when buying leotards online. As mentioned above, most companies have very different sizing charts, your gymnast may wear a XS in one brand and a MED in another.
  • DO buy 2 piece sets {tank and shorts} for tiny gymnast who may need to potty often. These sets can be found in lots of places but I personally recommend Target.
  • DO buy leotards made locally or from a small business  Flip Flop Leos & Lizatards!
  • DO buy leotards that are one solid piece of fabric if your daughter is sensitive. {Sometimes multiple fabric leos aren’t as comfortable if there is a lot of inside stitching. Also some metallic fabrics can be tighter and less flexible.}
  • DO support your club’s pro shop. This is a great way to help show your support, usually the pro shop helps support fun club activities, the snack bar and scholarships.
  • DO continue to buy from a brand over and over if your gymnast LOVES it!
  • DO buy custom name leos with a bit of growing room. Sylvia P offers some of the most gorgeous “name” leos, they are a bit pricey so you might want to size up. NOTE * SP is a Aussie company so be sure to refer to the sizing charts and have a tape measure 🙂
  • DO buy baby hangers if you hang your daughters leos. I truly feel they hold them the best.

DON’Ts {in no particular order}:

  • If your daughter says she does not like something, this could be anything from the fabric to the sleeve length DON’T buy it anyway because she will no wear it.
  • DON’T buy 2 piece set with growing room. Make sure all mini shorts are snug enough if they are too loose it could end up very embarrassing for your daughter.
  • DON’T buy a leotard that is “almost” too tight because she will without a doubt have a growth spirt.
  • DON’T feel limited on brands you know, branch out to other brands, many brands have a return policy so if you get one that your daughter just can’t stand you can return it.
  • DON’T buy a leotard with decals or multi stitched fabric if your daughter doesn’t like the feel of the stitching or the hard backing glue can have on the inside.
  • DON’T buy a leotard no matter how cute it is if your daughter doesn’t love it, she will NOT wear it.
  • DON’T be afraid to hand too small leos down or sale them on eBay.
  • DON’T listen to critics who say you have too many leotards or says your daughter only needs 1 or 2 Leotards. If you want to get her 1 or 1000 that is completely up to you, no one has the right to shame you if you want to buy her 10,000!

*Although I have partnered with some of these brands in the past this post is 100% my own. None of the above mentioned brands are compensating me or involved with this post in any way.

I’m getting all your email “post requests” Keep an eye out for Favorite Brands & leotard collection posts! They are both VERY highly requested and we are currently working on them now!
