Tumbl Trak Addie Beam!

We have been in love with Tumbl Trak since we got the skill builder set and tumbling mat. So it’s no surprise that when the opportunity arose to get a balance beam and not just any balance beam but the Addie beam we jumped at it!

Of course the beam arrived while Gabbi was at school so I waited to open it until she got home. She was so excited to open this huge box!

IMG_1366She squealed as we set it up!  Gabbi is because like many gymnasts she struggles with beam confidence, it’s not that she’s scared but she just isn’t totally confident in her skills.

The Addie beam has become a absolute ‘must have’! It sits on the floor with purple rounded feet, which we LOVE! Gabbi adores the Addie beam and loves working on skills like turns, leaps, handstands and cartwheels.  She is so proud, so confident, and ready to conquer the world!

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Addie beam {at any level}, especially if you have a competitive gymnast that needs to practice more at home!

The Addie beam can easily behind and couch or under the bed. When Gabbi is not using her Addie {pretty much when she’s in bed!} we like to put it here in front of our fire place. When we have guests we just move the beam to the twins room. Though it is fairly heavy, Gabbi {little miss independence] can move the beam to where she wants it by herself. Girl Power Sport GIVEAWAY!

One such fabric is the ridiculously adorable Gym Cat Leotard! Gabbi loves cats so of course it has become one of her favorite leotards and the fact that one cat is doing a back handspring it the CUTEST!

Not only is this leotard the cutest darn thing I’ve ever seen, it’s so incredibly well made! Quality is the most important thing when I buy my daughter leotards, honesty too often we buy Gabbi leotards and they fit great in the torso but are so darn baggy everywhere else that they just look ridiculous! Girl Power Sport has done a fantastic job on their leotard cut!

Generally Gabbi is not a fan of leotards with more one fabric…she hates the seams, but this Girl Power Sport leotard is different! The seam between the kitty fabric and the pink fabric on the sides is very soft and she doesn’t even notice it! Also the pink fabric is shiny, often times that means that the inside of the fabric is rough, this fabric is not!

Guys we are absolutely loving this leotard and cannot wait to get her more, in fact…

A bit about Girl Power Sport:

Girl Power Begins!  As a mompreneur, I wanted to create a company that encourages girls to be strong, active and goal driven.  I was born with a heart defect that limited my activity level.  After a number of heart surgeries, I set a goal to have an active lifestyle. So far, I have beat the odds and have run 21 marathons and 1 50k.  I want my children to learn the importance of hard work and perseverance on the field as an athlete as well as all aspects of their lives. I have used coaching as a way to encourage and impart the things I have learned that ultimately, you can overcome the odds. Through dance, gymnastics and sports, girls learn to be assertive, work as a team and test their abilities and strength. In the words of Shalane Flanagan, “Keep your head up, keep your heart strong,” I want girls who wear my products to feel pride, feel assertive, feel the sense of team and above all, feel they can beat the odds while maintaining a sense of kindness for others.

Onnit Battle Rope!

OBRBA new year calls for new workouts! If you’ve been following me for any length of time then you know my love for workouts, and friends, I LOVE my Onnit Royal Battle Rope {50ft. -1.5 in. thick}

From the first time my husband and I used it we were in love with this rope! If you have ever done a High-intensity interval training {HIIT} workout then you know that 30 seconds isn’t a quick as it seems. Add a Battle Rope into the mix and whoa…30 seconds is taken to an entirely different level, talk about a hardcore, body transforming workout!

Never heard of “Battle Ropes”? That’s ok, I got you!

What’s a Battle Rope?

A battle rope is simply a length Onnit Battle Ropes are 40 -50 feet in length and between 1.5 – 2 inches in diameter and weighing up to about 30lbs.

How to use a Battle Rope:

Onnit Battle Ropes are 40 and 50 ft. There are a few ways to use Battle Ropes:OBRAN

  • Battle Rope {Common use}: Attached/wrap the center of the rope around a secure anchor point {like a basketball pole for example} Then stretch out the rope and hold on the handles and you are good to go!ONBR
  • With a Partner: You and your partner each hold on to one handle, stretch rope out {this will result in you and your partner being 50ft apart} and begin workout!
  • Pull Through: Leave the rope coiled up with one handle visible, pull until you reach the other end of the rope

Battle ropes exercises are then done by lifting the end of the rope and making whipping motions {this look like waves} or dragging the ropes back and forth {this looks like slithering snakes} around. The goal is to maintain these movements for as long as possible…it’s hard…but it IS a lot of fun! Check out the Onnit video below!

ONBRBWhen my Onnit Royal Battle Rope arrived I was beyond excited! Not only is this rope just amazing…it’s really pretty…sadly it isn’t available in purple any more, however, there is black and gray, black and yellow and black and red!

Do you have a battle rope but you just aren’t sure what to do with it? Here’s an example of the kind of battle ropes workout you could put yourself through. This workout uses the principles of interval training for producing maximum fat loss. Each interval below is performed 15 seconds on and 15 seconds off. Adjust the intervals to suit your needs as appropriate.

Some of our favorite Battle Rope workouts:

ONBRC

  • Double waves: keep a wave in the rope for as long as possible
  • Double rope slams: lift the rope high and slam it down to create as big a wave as possible
  • Moguls: jump side to side to create horizontal waves
  • Jump slams:  jump up and down to wave and slam
  • Crossovers: horizontal waves while crossing arms

They are also great for Gymnasts! We sometimes wrap it {SAFELY} around a garage truss and she uses it to climb…and swing…so do her brothers!!

I highly recommend the Onnit Battle Rope to anyone who wants to gain stamina, do a fun and intense workout, or just simply looking to switch things up in their daily workout!

Glute Activation Workout {with resistance bands}

Happy Good Morning! Who’s ready for some workout gear talk? Victorem mini loop resistance bands are my most recent obsession!

These small but mighty little bad girls have a ton of different uses but one thing that I love to use them for is glute activation {basically warming up those butt muscles so you get the best workout and get that booty pop we all want!}
Quick Glute Activation Workout:
Place mini resistance band around your calves or right above your knees. I like to use the medium or heavy. Lets be real this workout BURNS and you don’t have to use resistance if you don’t want to.
25 Donkey Kicks {per leg}
  • Start on hands and knees
  • Flex right foot and press it up towards the ceiling or sky.
  • Squeeze Glutes
  • Lower the knee without touching the floor and repeat the lift.
  • Once you’ve completed the reps on the right leg, switch legs.

25 Fire Hydrants {per leg}

  • Start on hands and knees
  • Raise your right thigh out to the side, keeping the hips still.
  • Squeeze Glutes
  • Lower your thigh with out touching the floor and repeat the lift.
  • Once you’ve completed the reps on the right leg, switch legs.

25 Leg Extension {per leg}

  • Start on hands and knees
  • Flex right foot and press out straight behind you at hip level.
  • Pulse leg towards the ceiling or sky
  • Squeeze Glutes
  • Lower the knee without touching the floor and repeat the lift.
  • Once you’ve completed the reps on the right leg, switch legs.

You should will be BURNING by the end of this workout. I SWEAR I see after only a week!

In my opinion this is a great workout on its own, it doesn’t have to be a pre workout. You could easily to 2-3 more sets and a have ridiculous amount of muscle burn…you know that hurts so good burn…my fave!

I love doing these workouts in the morning, it gives a wonderful boost to the start of the day!

Victoria Gear Hip Bands and Mini Loop Resistance Bands!

Happy Good Morning and Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Have you ever been so excited about a piece of workout gear or equipment you just can’t wait to use it again?

That is EXACTLY how I feel about my Hip Bands and the Mini Loop Resistance Bands from Victorem! I cannot get enough of them, they are amazing!
Of course I’m going to tell you all about each set because I want you to be just as obsessed as me… but first…

I’ve never had anything like either of these bands before so I had no idea what to expect so I anxiously awaited their arrival. Wouldn’t you know the day they were set to arrive we were literally the last delivery of the day…past 9pm…ugh! I was so exhausted from the day but I couldn’t wait to rip into the box to check out all my goodies! I received the Hip Bands: Set of 3 and the Mini Loop Resistance Bands: Set of 5 two sets, {each set comes with a black carrying bag!}

I can’t even tell you how excited I was when I opened everything! Even though I was EXHAUSTED I could not wait to use them…so I did! That first night I did…

Walking lunges and Squats with this little bad girl:

Honestly I was shocked at how much resistance each of these bands had, guys seriously I went to bed with sore glutes and thighs…which I loved!

I use both sets every single day and will be taking them on all our up coming vacations!

I thought about making a video but there is a bit more jiggle then I’m ready to share…I hope you understand ❤
Ok let me give you some more specifics on each set!
I love these! The mini loop bands are just like regular sized resistance bands but they are resized to fit perfectly around your legs and give you awesome resistance you didn’t know you were missing!
This set comes with five bands:
Extra Light
Light
Medium
Heavy
Extra Heavy
With the five different resistance levels you can add as little or as much resistance as you want to a TON of different exercises. Simply pull a loop up to above your knees, calves or ankles and get moving!
A few of my favorite works outs with these bands are…
Leg Lifts: 
  • I started out using the medium band but currently have been using the heavy and extra heavy!
  • Lay on your side with the band around your ankles, squeeze your butt and lift the top leg about 10-14 inches lower and repeat. I like to do 25-30 reps per leg and 2-3 sets.
  • Back Leg Lifts (I use the light band for this)
  • Start on all fours with band around your feet (I like to position it around the archea of my feet) extend one leg behind you. Lift the leg to hip level and then slowly lower it back down. I like to do 20 reps per leg and 2-3 sets.
Squat Side Kick:
  • Stand with legs hip width apart with band around ankles
  • Squat as normal the as you stand kick one leg out to the side,
  • lower leg and repeat squat and kick with the other side.
  • I like to do 20 reps per side and 2-3 sets
Bent Over Lateral Leg Raises: 
  • Start with a band of your choice right at or above the knees, on your hands and knees. Hands directly beneath your shoulders.
  • Place one of your legs straight out your side as show. Correct your balance with your other knee.
  • Tense your glute, raising that leg out until it is straight out to your side. Hold for 2-3 seconds.
  • Slowly lower it back down
  • I like to do 20 reps per side and 2-3 sets

High Knees:

This gives you the benefit of sprinting without the space requirements. They’re simple to do, just sprint on the spot, driving your knees and your hands upwards alternatively. I like to use the heavy band and do this workout for 1 min. 1-3 sets.

There are truly a ton of different workout you can do with these little bad girls but I will let you find some of your faves!

Hip Bands: Set of 3

Oh my gosh I love love love love these! I’m obsessed!

This set comes with three extra wide fabric Bands (think extra wide elastic but way more durability) Just like the set above these babies fit perfectly around your ankle, knees or thighs and give you some serious resistance! The thick elastic band does not slip or roll during a workout so no stopping to adjust and ruining your pace, plus they are beautiful!

Here are a couple of my favorite workouts…

  • Donkey kicks: Place preferred band around your calves or above knees. I like to do 25 reps per side and 2-4 sets.
  • Reverse Lunges: Place preferred band above knees. I like to do 30 reps per side and 2-3 sets.
  • Squats: Place preferred band above knees and when I squat I like to press my knees out for a little extra burn! I like to do 50 squats and 2-3 reps.
  • Side Steps: Place preferred band above knees and literally walk from side to side. I like to walk to the left 25 steps then back to the right 25 steps and do 2-4 sets.

Both band sets are spectacular for:

  • Walking: With the band right above the knees begin walking (the more resistance in the band the deeper the burn) I like to take 20-30 steps then either turn or walk backwards. I do 2-3 sets
  • Side steps: Stand with legs slight apart with band above your knees a leading with your head thigh step to the side keeping the band tight the whole time. I like to step direction 10-15 steps then go back the other direction. I like to do 3-6 sets.
  • Squats:  Stand with legs hip width apart and squat. I like to do 50 reps and 2-3 sets
  • Walking Lunges: Stand with legs about hip width apart and band above the knees. Begin walking lunges. I like to do 25 lunges before I turn and walk again. I like to do 3-4 sets

These four pretty basic workouts alone will give you a burn you didn’t know you’ve always wanted!

I love these both styles of bands and HIGHLY recommend getting both sets!

Oh DUH! You probably want to know if I have had results, it’s only been about 2 weeks since these little bad girls arrived, but I can honestly say I am defiantly seeing results in the mirror…for sure there is more toning and definition every day! With absolute certainty I can tell you my legs are so much stronger and I feel the muscles more and more every day!

In all honesty I absolutely believe you will benefit from these no matter what your fitness level is…from ultimate beginner to hard core gym rat! These with give you the added resistance you never knew you always wanted. I rarely say “you need to go get this now” but guys honest you totally do!!

Display 4 Bows {Giveaway}

Are you a Gymnastics, Dance, Cheer mom, or just a mom whose daughter loves hair bows? If so then chances are you have more bows then you know what to do with!

I have been putting big bows on Gabbi since she was a wee little thing. I just love cheer bows so much…it must be my Texas pride showing!

d4b6Over the years Gabbi has collected a ton of bows {all sizes} and to be honest we kept them in a shoe box on her bathroom counter. About three or four months ago she discovered what we all lovingly refer to as Cheer Bows, if you are not familiar with a cheer bow then let me tell you the basics, they are big, stiff and gorgeous! We have collected quite a few so far and more just keep coming…its become an obsession! Well, if you know anything about Cheer bows then you know they cannot and should not be tucked away in a box, they are too pretty and NEED to be displayed…and there lies the problem! How on earth do we display these lovelies without them getting damaged? Ooh I know how! Display 4 Bows!!!

Gabbi was clearly thrilled when her Display 4 Bows arrived!

Display 4 Bows is the coolest hanging bow display I have seen! It’s a long holder that can hold up to 7 bows! It can hand on the wall to display all your lovely bows! Putting a bow in the Display for Bows is easy, you just push the rubber band through the rubbery star, pull and voila! {the photo makes it clearer…I’m horrible at explaining it 🙂 }

 

So, how did you Display 4 Bows get started?

Two fathers developed Display 4 Bows after seeing the many cheer bows their daughters had accumulated over the years in competitive cheer.

In celebration of their hard work and memorable achievements the girls would display the bows around their room using tacks on the wall.

Their daughters’ love for this sport provided their father’s with the idea to manufacture display racks.

It was not long before the fathers realized that they had created something much more than a cheerleading bow display Rack. We quickly learned that other sports like gymnastics, dance, soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and field hockey also used hair bows as part of their team’s uniforms. This opened the Display 4 Bows to many markets and exciting growth took place

In addition to the hard-earned bows these athletes Display like trophies on our bow holder, they are finding that their bows are holding their glitter and team names longer because they are not being thrown in drawers or be shuffled around the room. Instead, they are displayed on the wall like trophies reminding them of their hard work and dedication to their sport.
