31 Day Fit Challenge!

As I sat listening to my children splashing and playing in the pool it dawned on me that OMG today is the last day of July…ummm what the heck wasn’t it just the 4th of July? I started thinking I want to do something fun and special on my blog for the month of August, but what? Then it hit me…a 31 day tailored workout challenge! A little backstory:  Over the last few months I have really be struggling with staying motivated…I unfortunately had a bad experiencing with a VERY well know fitness program and its creator {but thats another story for another day…maybe} the bad experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and a beat down unmotivated heart…sad but true. I have been feeling like I REALLY need a kick in the pants and prayed that I would feel motivated and re-start my journey…then yesterday I got a HUGE motivation when a friend hit her 1 year weightloss journey anniversary and is down more than 80lbs!! Talk about motivation right?

Hey! Lets start a journey together!

I mentioned above that this will be tailored to each person…what do I mean? We will start each week with a fitness test to see our personal fitness level! It’s actually pretty basic workout but will give results:

  • Squats
  • Push ups
  • Crunches
  • Cardio
  • Walking

Daily Cardio: This can be anything you want…Zumba, running, piyo, crossfit…etc. Just something that gets you heart pounding for 10-30 minutes.

Daily Walking: A minimum of 1 mile daily {thats really easy to get you’ll be surprised} My husband and I walk 4-6 miles every single day. If you start out walking 1 mile increase by a 1/2 mile each week until September, working towards 3+ miles.

Fitness Test: Tomorrow {and each Monday this month} will be a fitness test! What does this mean? Basically we are going to set a timer for 1 minutes {we will increase this each week} and see how many Crunches, Push ups and squats we can do!

Don’t forget to print this Fitness Log to keep track of your daily workouts!

How the fitness test works: grab a timer and set it for one minute then do as many Crunches as you can do in that minute, reset the timer and do as many squats as you can do, then reset and do as many push ups you can do. DON’T forget to write down your scores on the Fitness Log! The numbers you record are your starting scores, each day you will try to beat the previous days score so you are competing with yourself not someone else!…you may only be able to do 3-5 more but trust me as the days go by you will be surprised how much more strength and stamina you have!

Things to do tomorrow morning:

  • Weigh in {don’t skip this because it will be motivating to see the difference between the 1st weigh in and the last.}
  • Take a full body photo {I know some of you just cringed but this will be such a great motivator throughout the month.
  • make sure you have cold water in the fridge or freezer {especially with the hot weather you NEED to stay hydrated!}

Full Body Workout Printables

Happy April 1st! Now that it’s Spring we are on the go a lot, visiting my sister on the other side of the state, camping and day trips. We wait all winter for the weather to change so that we can be out a lot more…the downside? Sometimes it’s extremely difficult to get a workout in. As I laid in bed this morning {after be awoken by the neighbors lawn crew mowing very early} I decided I wanted to create a easy full body workout printable that can be done literally anywhere without equipment! Here’s what I came up with…

I selected crunches, squats and pushups because in my experience these three workouts separately or combined can get amazing results in a short amount of time!

 

The reps…

100 Crunches – 50 Squats – 20 Pushups, this is a perfect for anyone! I suggest starting you day with this because it will give you so much engery to start your day!

Get more out of you workout…

f you are looking for more of a challenge {like me} do the 100-50-20 when you wake up then again in the late after noon or evening.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up from day to day {here are a few suggestions}

  • Crunches
  • Bicycle Crunches
  • Reverse Crunches
  • Heel Touches

 

  • Squats
  • Squat with Leg Lift
  • Pile Squats
  • Narrow Squats

 

  • Pushups
  • Dimond Pushups
  • Wide Arm Pushups
  • Inclined Pushups

Goals!

This week #SweatPink asks: “What are your current fitness and healthy living goals? What’s your strategy for staying on track with achieving your goals?”

This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, with the season change quickly approaching {where I live at least} and the face that I’m currently battling a significant slipped and bulging disc that is pinching a nerve in my back {do to a serious fall} and lot of taking it easy {Bummer!} This seems like a perfect time to set some new goals! Hmmm, you know what? Some time a little reevaluation is exactly what you need to get motivated!

My Current Fitness & Healthy Living Goals

  • Heal & find workouts that I can do with my injury:

Because I really have to take it easy on my upper back and shoulder I’ve really been focusing a lot on lower body workouts, walking and running with my husband!  I have been doing Zumba and honestly a whole lot of Pinterest searching for lower body workouts that will be gentle on my back, that will make me sweat, and give me the cardio I’m looking for. Let’s talk ZUMBA!!! Honestly guys, if you are feeling down, discouraged or just not motivated I HIGHLY recommend Zumba! It’s so much fun, gives an awesome cardio workout and you can do it at home when ever you want! For me personally there is a huge plus, even with my injury I can still ZUUUMMMBBBAAA! Here are some of my favorite YouTube videos all from CLUB FITz…my personal fave! These 6 videos can act as a super fun and intense cardio workout {the first video is a slower warm up video. I end with it again or stretches}

I dare you not to have fun and feel ready to conquer anything the days throws at you after doing one or all of these Zumba routines! I know I do injury and all!

  • Give my body the right Fuel:

I have recently really gotten back on track with my healthy eating goals! YAY! A few months ago I kind of slipped off my low-carb eating…ugh…yes I paid the penalty and gained back some weight. I was extremely disappointed {even thought it was my own fault} so my husband and I reassessed our eating and realized we needed to get back to our low-carb lifestyle and hit it hard! I have already seen results {we were on vacation and ate like crap but I didn’t gain at all!} I feel so much better, I have so much more energy and I know it’s because of my low carb lifestyle!

One of the ways that my husband and I have achieved our low-carb lifestyle is honestly by using the entire Atkins line! I have shared before how much I love the Atkins so I won’t go on and on about it! See my posts about Atkins HERE!

  • See my progress: 

Keeping track of my fitness, weightloss and eating is really important for me. There is just something about writing it down that makes me feel more accomplished! For this I have been using a few different printable that I created months ago for my readers!

  • Get more sleep:

This remains an ongoing struggle for me.  I aim to be in bed by 10:30/11. However I have a really bad habit of  “oops I forgot” until oh 11pm. My goal is to delegate my “day” time better and learn that I DO NOT have to do something I forgot to do during the day….it CAN wait. It will be difficult but I am determined to get the sleep I need and my family needs me to get!

Oh just a #LiveInprAna Wish List

Since a new season it about to start {well at least where I live ;)} Of course I headed over and pursued prAna‘s website and very quickly I realized my wish list was pretty big! Have you checked out all the great stuff from they have? #1MillionMinutes #liveinprAna Mad Lib!!

This week Sweat Pink and Fit Approach are partnering up with prAna to help us get closer to our goal of #1MillionMinutes!

Yay!! I’m so excited for the next two weeks of #LiveInPrAna and to be starting today off with a fun mad lib!

I’m so excited to rack up more minutes towards our awesome goal of reaching 1 million minutes this summer!  While most of my sweat has come from hiking and playing outside with the kids {trampoline, swimming and football mostly} , I have also done quite a bit of walking {a 5k every night with my hubby!!}

To motivate myself to get from homeschooling the kids to running with my hubby and through my day,  I always have to be armed with water and protein snacks. I find that the more hydrated and alert that I am, the more determined and successful I am at achieving my goals.

Since staying on track requires so much focus and energy, I think it’s important that I treat myself! Killer Kettlebell WOD

This has been my favorite Kettlebell WOD {workout of the day} for a while now!

Heres a few things before you get started:

  • If you are new to Kettlebells then start out with a lighter weight {5-10 lbs} you can always go heavier once you have gotten used to the lighter bell.
  • Use the weight that is right for you. Don’t get over zealous and use a weight that is heavier that you are used to, work up to a heavier weight.

Like most of my workouts this can be done pretty much anywhere! Its a fairly quick yet butt kicking WOD!
