This week #SweatPink asks: “What are your current fitness and healthy living goals? What’s your strategy for staying on track with achieving your goals?”

This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, with the season change quickly approaching {where I live at least} and the face that I’m currently battling a significant slipped and bulging disc that is pinching a nerve in my back {do to a serious fall} and lot of taking it easy {Bummer!} This seems like a perfect time to set some new goals! Hmmm, you know what? Some time a little reevaluation is exactly what you need to get motivated!

My Current Fitness & Healthy Living Goals

  • Heal & find workouts that I can do with my injury:

Because I really have to take it easy on my upper back and shoulder I’ve really been focusing a lot on lower body workouts, walking and running with my husband!  I have been doing Zumba and honestly a whole lot of Pinterest searching for lower body workouts that will be gentle on my back, that will make me sweat, and give me the cardio I’m looking for. Let’s talk ZUMBA!!! Honestly guys, if you are feeling down, discouraged or just not motivated I HIGHLY recommend Zumba! It’s so much fun, gives an awesome cardio workout and you can do it at home when ever you want! For me personally there is a huge plus, even with my injury I can still ZUUUMMMBBBAAA! Here are some of my favorite YouTube videos all from CLUB FITz…my personal fave! These 6 videos can act as a super fun and intense cardio workout {the first video is a slower warm up video. I end with it again or stretches}

I dare you not to have fun and feel ready to conquer anything the days throws at you after doing one or all of these Zumba routines! I know I do injury and all!

  • Give my body the right Fuel:

I have recently really gotten back on track with my healthy eating goals! YAY! A few months ago I kind of slipped off my low-carb eating…ugh…yes I paid the penalty and gained back some weight. I was extremely disappointed {even thought it was my own fault} so my husband and I reassessed our eating and realized we needed to get back to our low-carb lifestyle and hit it hard! I have already seen results {we were on vacation and ate like crap but I didn’t gain at all!} I feel so much better, I have so much more energy and I know it’s because of my low carb lifestyle!

One of the ways that my husband and I have achieved our low-carb lifestyle is honestly by using the entire Atkins line! I have shared before how much I love the Atkins so I won’t go on and on about it! See my posts about Atkins HERE!

  • See my progress: 

Keeping track of my fitness, weightloss and eating is really important for me. There is just something about writing it down that makes me feel more accomplished! For this I have been using a few different printable that I created months ago for my readers!

  • Get more sleep:

This remains an ongoing struggle for me.  I aim to be in bed by 10:30/11. However I have a really bad habit of  “oops I forgot” until oh 11pm. My goal is to delegate my “day” time better and learn that I DO NOT have to do something I forgot to do during the day….it CAN wait. It will be difficult but I am determined to get the sleep I need and my family needs me to get!

Oh just a #LiveInprAna Wish List

Today’s #liveinprana prompt: What item in your workout ensemble needs an upgrade OR browse the new prAna collection and show us what’s on your wish list?

Since a new season it about to start {well at least where I live ;)} Of course I headed over and pursued prAna‘s website and very quickly I realized my wish list was pretty big! Have you checked out all the great stuff from they have? Something that I just love about prAna is that they are not only a fitness apparel website, there’s everything from jeans, sweaters, coats jackets, accessories and of course fantastic fitness and yoga apparel as well as yoga mats and yoga straps! There are defiantly a lot of things in both my fitness and street wardrobe that really need to be replaced and updated!

#1MillionMinutes #liveinprAna Mad Lib!!

This week Sweat Pink and Fit Approach are partnering up with prAna to help us get closer to our goal of #1MillionMinutes!

Yay!! I’m so excited for the next two weeks of #LiveInPrAna and to be starting today off with a fun mad lib!

I’m so excited to rack up more minutes towards our awesome goal of reaching 1 million minutes this summer!  While most of my sweat has come from hiking and playing outside with the kids {trampoline, swimming and football mostly} , I have also done quite a bit of walking {a 5k every night with my hubby!!}

To motivate myself to get from homeschooling the kids to running with my hubby and through my day,  I always have to be armed with water and protein snacks. I find that the more hydrated and alert that I am, the more determined and successful I am at achieving my goals.

Since staying on track requires so much focus and energy, I think it’s important that I treat myself! If I were going to reward myself with something from prAna this week, it would most definitely be the Arka JacketMaison Legging Dreaming Top from prAna because they are totally on point with my style, super cute and function-able with my life style! Killer Kettlebell WOD

This has been my favorite Kettlebell WOD {workout of the day} for a while now!

Heres a few things before you get started:

  • If you are new to Kettlebells then start out with a lighter weight {5-10 lbs} you can always go heavier once you have gotten used to the lighter bell.
  • Use the weight that is right for you. Don’t get over zealous and use a weight that is heavier that you are used to, work up to a heavier weight.

Like most of my workouts this can be done pretty much anywhere! Its a fairly quick yet butt kicking WOD!

A Gallon a Day

We all know the drinking water is so good for you! Here are some awesome benefits to drinking a gallon of water a day!

Your skin will look beautiful. Drinking water helps your skin looks moisturized and glowing it will also help reduce any bloating and puffiness in your skin.

Helps you focus. Drinking enough water can ensure that your brain will have an oxidant oxygen that it needs to function at its optimal level how cool is that!

Removes toxins. You know when you drink a lot of water and you have to frequent the lady’s room well this is actually really good thing you’re reading your body of all kinds of toxins.

Better digestion. Water can seriously improve your body’s ability to break down food and remove discomfort from digestion problems. I come from a family with serious digestion issues and since drinking more water I can’t even tell you how much better I have felt.

With the awesomeness also comes a few cautions that I want to share with you if you choose to take the challenge or the plunge and drink a gallon of water a day

Not consuming enough fluids can lead to dehydration we all know that. Dehydration can be caused by a whole slue of things: excess sweating, fever, diarrhea and vomiting or even diabetes. Common symptoms of dehydration are: nausea, a sore throat, dry mouth loss of appetite for food or fluids and feeling ill.

The polar opposite of dehydration is Water Intoxication

Water Intoxication is rare but it can happen if you drink too much water too quickly. What you need to know: Drinking a gallon of water is absolutely safe if you spread it throughout an entire day but if you consume a gallon of water per hour you are at an increased risk of water intoxication and it can be deadly. Please be careful!! One of the reasons that I created my gallon jug with the times is so that I don’t overdo it.

**Drinking a gallon of water {safely} a day is more than the recommended intake but you will not have any harmful effects on your system if you are not dehydrated.

I’m not drinking a gallon of water a day because I thought it was going to cause a miracle weight-loss. Honestly the main reason that I started doing this is because I am easily susceptible to dehydration and with it getting warmer I don’t want to risk heat exhaustion as well. I don’t want to have dehydration headaches anymore. I don’t want to feel gross and sluggish because I’m dehydrated.

I’m only a few days into “30 days of drinking a gallon of water a day” I can tell you is that my skin seems brighter, I have more energy, Yes! I am peeing quite a bit more but thats totally ok with me and hey it’s getting rid of all kinds of nasty toxins in my body!

Quick and easy tips if you choose to start drinking a gallon of water a day!

Grab a gallon: find yourself either a gallon jug or do what I did and thoroughly clean and empty milk jug or orange juice jug, whatever you have!

Mark it: on my milk jug I have 9 AM 11 AM 1 PM 3 PM 5 PM 7 PM and 9 PM. This is really help me stay on track

Use a glass: I have been using a tall 24 oz canning jar. I keep my gallon of water in the refrigerator and I fill up my 24 ounce jar put a straw in it I drink that down when it’s empty I refill it and so on until my gallon is gone.

Don’t be too hard on yourself: drinking a gallon of water a day for most people is a pretty big undertaking if you start out and you don’t feel like you can drink an entire gallon don’t push yourself work up to a full gallon.

Hey guys! The SweatPink #1millionminutes campaign is moving right along and it has been so much fun!  So far more than 230,000 minutes have been logged by all the awesome participants!!!I’m so excited this week SweatPink is partnering with Grokker! Yay! What’s Grokker? It’s an awesome website that has tons of fitness and cooking videos! I have loved Grokkerfor months and really enjoy their awesome videos!Once again sweating has set up a fun little Mad Lib, as always I’m going to fill it out below but make sure that you fill out your own so that you can join in the fun!

SweatPink Grokker Mad Lib!

I’m so excited to rack up more minutes using video workouts from Grokker! There’s everything from Yoga and Barre to Cardio for everyone from beginners to advanced, and I’m especially pumped to try Barre HIIT because it will make me extra sweaty and toned.

I plan to do my video workout in my office or upstairs living {depending how hot it is} before my nightly 5k with the hubby and after family dinner. My favorite thing about video workouts is that they are at my finger tips when ever I want a awesome workout, and they’re a super convenient way to get sweaty when I’m feeling lazy.

My goal is to hit 500 minutes this week!. I’ll do Cardio Kick Fitness HIIT 2 & Barre HIIT on one of my more intense workout days, and Yoga –Tight Hip Pain Relief & Yoga – Upper Back Pain Relief,  on a rest or lower intensity day.  I challenge my SweatPink sisters to beat my # of minutes or to do  Cardio Kick Fitness HIIT 2 & Barre HIIT with me!
